I thought the 12.50 adult ticket was a bit steep for this museum but quite interesting with good room displays of what his house looked like. Lots of original pieces to see. Paintings are secondary to his etchings and printing he did. Nice lady goes through the process. Audio guide essential to get a good understanding. Last part is a... More

One of the great things about this museum is the practical demonstration of Printing, you can have a go led by a lovely lady who certainly knows about printing, enjoyed it very much. You can also listen and speak to a guy demonstrating paint making, again able to have a go, I spent a long time there and enjoyed if... More

A great spot to see some of Rembrandt's work and items from his studio. Also very interesting are the workshops they have showing pigments and printing.

There are better museums to go to, but this one takes less than an hour to see. This museum tells of Rembrandt and shows where he lived, worked and taught. There is a room of his props, that I found interesting. We were able to go for free with the purchase of our intra-city travel ticket.

We really enjoyed the visit. And the audio commentary with the free headsets was also very helpful. We enjoyed the etching demonstration.

Although this museum is not as large as some of the others it should not be missed. You really got the feel of how things were as Rembrant painted and how the light that come in affected his work. We were also shown how paint is made by watching a hand on demonstration

This little house in the back streets of Amsterdam is well worth a visit if your a fan of Rembrandt or not. Perfectly preserved with his artifacts, belongings and reference material still intact fills the house with atmosphere as if he had just left the building. Some very enthusiastic guides demonstrating his printing techniques bring the visit alive. Easily accessible... More

A fantastic way to see into the life of the Master painter. I felt a greater connection to him as an artist and a person by visiting here. This is well worth yr time in Amsterdam.

Staying in Plantage & the East

Neighbourhood Profile
Plantage & the East
The eastern edge of central Amsterdam provides visitors with the chance to imagine the city that Rembrandt called home (and to tour his historic house) while shopping like the thriftiest of locals at Waterlooplein’s massive flea market, or even enjoying a craft beer beside the tallest wooden windmill in The Netherlands. This verdant, serene, and stately part of town is home to Artis Royal Zoo, one of Europe’s oldest (and still best kept) zoos, and Hortus Botanicus, one of the oldest botanical gardens in the world. It's also an ideal setting for the Dutch outpost of St Petersburg’s Hermitage.
