About
Modesty has no place at this highly respectable sauna, where you get down to the altogether in mixed company. Sauna Deco is a small spa in a unique place and with a unique interior. A place for people that know how to appreciate a sauna bath. Don't expect swimming pools or a Jacuzzi but know it has everything for a couple of hours of relaxing.

Neighbourhood: Centrum
Amsterdam’s buzzing hub, with its sprawling network of tram rails and a seemingly constant flow of tourists and commuters, yields convenient access to some of the best sightseeing, shopping, and street life in Europe. Closest at hand are the Royal Palace, the quaint shops of Haalremmerdijk, the pedestrianized zones Kalverstraat and Dam Square with popular neighborhoods such as the Red Light District, and the Canal Ring hardly more than a moment’s stroll away. - John R1 contributionGreat Experience like stepping back 40 years in time. What an amazing Spa. Just like stepping back 40 years. The staff are so helpful and informative. The Infrared Sauna is different but so enjoyable. Both conventional Saunas and the Steam Room are also excellent. Finally the cold plunge pool is so refreshing. Good value for money and would use it every week if I lived in Amsterdam.Visited October 2023Travelled as a coupleWritten 5 October 2023
- James C2 contributions3 days in AmsterdamEnjoy it’s a great place to have a break. Sauna Deco is a marvellous place to relax, around 30 Euros entrance, there’s infra red heat rooms (two), a large pool, mixed locker room, massage rooms, relaxation areas outside with comfortable loungers, nice staff, steam rooms, Saunas plenty of showers and an upstairs rest area, towels a plenty but leave your swimming costume at home. Value for money at the Spa 10/10 and best of all is the authentic decor. Remember everyone is wearing their birthday suit.Visited September 2023Travelled on businessWritten 6 October 2023

Sauna Deco is a nice spa in the middle of the city centre of Amsterdam. They offer a hot sauna, Turkish bath, infrared sauna (which I've never tried before, but loved), massage, cold baths and places for relaxation. No clothes allowed in the saunas so you sit there naked with other people of all genders. I felt it was very liberating and relaxing. There were people of all ages and body shapes so I think everyone would feel welcome here.
I bought an hour of massage with Martha. I chose a relaxing massage and it was really good! She was very professional and made the whole spa experience so much better.
Between the stressful sightseeing I recommend to come and relax here for some hours.

Lovely sauna, I have always thought that this is the closest to a Finnish sauna you can get in the middle of Amsterdam.
Tonight I was told that I throw too much water on the stones and that I am stupid and antisocial. I tried to accommodate their wishes and left the hotroom to give them some space. When I returned after they had left, the loyly bucket had disappeared. First time all this has happened, nobody has complained about my Finnish sauna habits before and I felt that I was respectful towards everyone. However, once I relayed the incident to the reception, I was, once again, listed everything that I did wrong.
It would be nice to have all the rules displayed so that nobody would unintentionally breach them and in this way we would all have a good and relaxing event.
Left a really bad taste in my mouth, not what you want from a trip to a sauna.

LOVE this place. An Art Deco gem in the heart of Amsterdam. It is literally the best way to spend €27.50 in this city. Hours of relaxation in a unique setting that is inexpensive enough to enjoy regularly.

Heard of this place and decided I had to give it a go. The surroundings are truly lush, wonderful old panelling.
So I’m from the UK and we kind of have a problem sometimes with stripping off. Europe though has the right idea. Nobody… absolutely nobody cares you’re sat there in the nude and you’re all there to soak up the atmosphere and hot relaxation anyway so who cares. Just chill and embrace that.
Either bring a towel or hire one for a reasonable cost. Yes you can just rock up. Obviously you wear a towel in between hot rooms and you sit on it in the sauna itself. In the steam room you leave it outside, again for obvious reasons.
The plunge pool is wonderfully refreshing, as are the foot baths but a whirlpool hot bath is perhaps sadly missing. Then again after a friend who managed a gym told me how they found how foul the water was in those things, it’s perhaps a good thing it’s missing.
You’ll leave truly chilled and refreshed.

I'm sorry but it's a bit absurd, bathing suits are not allowed, there is no privacy for women and men in the same room, those who don't mention it on the booking site, today 23 juillet a lady at the reception spoke to me badly, I arrived at 11:55 a.m. and 2:45 p.m. I asked her what time it was, to which she gave me a very nasty answer: it's time to go home, a real shame for such behavior with tourists, not even a single picture is allowed for a small memory, no I recommend this sauna

Is it entirely naked? I wanted to book this for my boyfriends birthday, but I’m not too excited it’s about this nude spa business. Neither would he be.

Hi Osian12, in the saunas and steam rooms no swim wear is allowed, the change room and showers are coed, the place is stunning in its visual appeal that you will be overwhelmed to realise that you are naked. You can wear a bathrobe or towel when walking around or just relaxing in the lounge areas. Never have we felt uncomfortable, intimidated or harassed when visiting Sauna Deco, in fact quite the opposite we feel refreshed, it is a liberating experience one for which takes about 10 seconds to appreciate that it actually feels very natural, In Germany, Austria, Netherlands such sauna/spa facilities are all the same in that naked in the sauna/steam room are the norm, some such venues have hotels attached in Northern Europe it is “normal”. Usually minimum age of entry is 16 to allow for a calm and relaxing environment. So in essence in answer to your question “is it entirely naked”........only in the sauna/steam rooms, usually you walk into the sauna room/cabin and place your towel on the timber benches not allowing for any skin contact with the timber, in the steam room you would simply disrobe outside the room enter through the door and sit on the seating provided at this point you have very limited visibility due to the steam, you are not going to be seen that much through the steam. My advice is “just do it”.........you are not going to know anyone, and if you did they would be in the same position as yourselves. It’s most liberating and very natural! We plan our vacations in Europe always visiting a spa/sauna hotel resort such as this - often called (Therme/Thermen/Thermy/Spa/Sauna). If you require any more info please let me know, all the very best.
