Sometimes we need to stay near the water and feeling better...A gracht could become the most interesting place for your eye, heart, and soul...

A group of us took a nice walk around. Spent time just watching the people and the boats on the canal. A couple of friends decided on the boat tour. City center was nice and clean, people are proud of their business and it shows.

This is a typical Amsterdam "brown bar" which is one of a few old style original brown wood interior bars left in the city. I was recommended to visit here by Daniel Pembrey, the author of a book entitled "THe Harbour Master" who lived and...More

De Duif is a church on the Prinsengracht area built in 1858 and used for events such as concerts and choirs. The area can be visited by canal boat where you can view the typical Amsterdam houses by the canal.

This is THE canal in the city! To truly appreciate it, a boat tour is a must! Seeing the city from the waterline is so memorable and beautiful. We loved it!

Delightful canal - the tall buildings, many crooked or leaning, reflected in the water. Small boats moored along some of the canal - definitely worth a slow stroll to take in the atmosphere.

We took one of the many canal cruises and came through this and the other main canals and learned a lot of the history of the town - but they aren't tearing all the bad stuff down despite them being the main importer of slaves...More

Both the canal and the street wrap around the city center on the west, south and east. The Jordaan, where we stayed for a week on house boat in mMay, is in the west, Great neighborhood location.

A great walking city. Very safe. My teenage nieces walks on their own even deep in the night. If pickpocketting reaches the evening news, it says enough about the city. Have fun in amazing amsterdam.
