Neighbourhood: Centrum
Amsterdam’s buzzing hub, with its sprawling network of tram rails and a seemingly constant flow of tourists and commuters, yields convenient access to some of the best sightseeing, shopping, and street life in Europe. Closest at hand are the Royal Palace, the quaint shops of Haalremmerdijk, the pedestrianized zones Kalverstraat and Dam Square with popular neighborhoods such as the Red Light District, and the Canal Ring hardly more than a moment’s stroll away. With the well-connected Centraal Station as Centrum’s base, it's easy to travel farther afield via one of the city’s iconic trams.

The building is a church. The church is closed most of the times. This is unremarkable old house by water.

We strolled around this area but also had a boat cruise that went down here. Very pretty and if you're into photography, you'll get some great shoots of Amsterdam and the canals along here

De Duif is one of the lovely canals of the city. Pretty houses on the canals make it an attractive tourist destination.

Just great to stroll along the canals and discover those peaceful and elegant canal houses! Welcoming staff and attractive handicrafts in some of them.

Much of Amsterdam's charm lies in the canal life of the houseboats with all the flowers and plants on them. Some even have green roofs and solar on top adding toothier cache as "modernized relics of the past". Beautiful buildings line the canals and among the winsome and enticing architecture are the houses of varying size and shape - many tiny but all narrow and deep. The flowers and other plantings only add to the overall desirability of one's visit.

Buonasera!

Prinsensgracht is one of the longest "gracht". You can hire a bike to see as much as possible.

A great walking city. Very safe. My teenage nieces walks on their own even deep in the night. If pickpocketting reaches the evening news, it says enough about the city. Have fun in amazing amsterdam.

Hi
We plan to use this as a base, since we may be coming back late - I wondered how difficult parking was at the hotel?
