We loved this museum and found it very interesting. There was excellent insight into Van Gogh's life and the artists that influenced him and were influenced by him. The museum area of Amsterdam is beautiful and convenient for visitors.

Wonderful museum- not at all boring and I'm not an art buff! The development of Van Goghs work is clearly displayed as is his tragic disintegration. Very moving.

Museum Quarter (Museumkwartier)
Top sites to see in this attractive and affluent part
of town include the Rijksmuseum and the Van Gogh
Museum, to name but two of the highly acclaimed
museums of the aptly named Museum Quarter. And if you
need a break from all the fantastic art, there’s the
Neoclassical Concertgebouw music hall and Vondelpark,
the city’s largest park. Shopaholics and luxury brand
connoisseurs will love exploring the high-end shopping

We had booked online for a specific time. Otherwise the queues can be 2 hours long. I'm not sure about the Museumkaart.

No, but you have big museum store right by VG museum. If you need to go in a NEMO museum shop (perfect for children gifts) you can go without ticket.
