Cafe Hoppe and the bar Hoppe are next to each other on a corner of the Spui. The bar is superb, brown, sand on the floor, a painting very reminiscent of the Golden Age, great barmen, bitterballen and cheese. The area outside gets packed between...More

Popped in here for some toasties and coffee early morning. Very good they were too. Nice old atmospheric, old school place. On Spui so easy to find.

This is a friendly local spot. Beer selection is nice. Good BLT. Really bad breakfast for 12 euro. Stick with the beer!

Great place to hang out after walking the centre and the flower market. The American book store is also next door, where you can while away the rest of the afternoon.

One of the oldest pubs still running with 'grumpy' male staff (the way it should be), lots of locals and therefore excellent fun for an accidental tourist who wants a Dutch pub experience. Sand on the floor, a good choice of booz and even Calvados...More

A nice place amongst many many cafes! The place was busy and food was good!! There was a large selection of beers too, but alias I was drinking coffee!!

Amsterdam’s buzzing hub, with its sprawling network of
tram rails and a seemingly constant flow of tourists
and commuters, yields convenient access to some of the
best sightseeing, shopping, and street life in Europe.
Closest at hand are the Royal Palace, the quaint shops
of Haalremmerdijk, the pedestrianized zones
Kalverstraat and Dam Square with popular neighborhoods
such as the Red Light District, and the Canal Ring
