This library situated at an increasingly popular niche just next to the Central train station ! The director of this wonderful place said he was so proud that the library reflects the cosmopolitant atmosphere of Amsterdam. It is very modern and comprises the digital world as we no it today. I often go there for translation work, books music and... More

If all libraries were this cool, the kids of the world might study more. blasting excellent architecture coupled with clever lighting. Sharp lines and scenic views. Many nooks and crannies to grab a book or hook onto wifi. It's a worthwhile visit and a welcoming warm shelter.

First of all this jewel of a library has a restaurant at the top with outstanding views of the city. We did not eat there so I cannot say anything about the food, however the art work, the extensive English book section, the children's book section and the media library sections were very impressive. They also have art displays that... More

The public library of Amsterdam just close to Central station, is a great place to visit in Amsterdam. Especially, when you are at the 6th floor of this building where there is a cafeteria you will have a nice view of the city. If you are a book lover, this is the right place for you. Wonderful collection of worldwide... More

A library is typically not a interesting tourist attracting. However, if your aim is to get out out of the hustle bustle that Amsterdam has to offer the top levels of the building have an amazing view of Amsterdam and a canal or two! Settle in one of the chairs and pick up a book for a great afternoon!

This is a library located next to the Central Station and the Nemo science centre. It might seems to be quite boring to visit a library as a tourist but it is really worth doing. The entrance is free, and you only have to pay if you would like to take a book home (I have no idea if it... More

Do not miss the chance to see this beautiful venue so close to the train station. The cafe on the upper floors offers wonderful, tasty food cafeteria style and reasonable prices. Awesome view over the main plaza. Truly, a gem!

Staying in Centrum

Neighbourhood Profile
Centrum
Amsterdam’s buzzing hub, with its sprawling network of tram rails and a seemingly constant flow of tourists and commuters, yields convenient access to some of the best sightseeing, shopping, and street life in Europe. Closest at hand are the Royal Palace, the quaint shops of Haalremmerdijk, the pedestrianized zones Kalverstraat and Dam Square with popular neighborhoods such as the Red Light District, and the Canal Ring hardly more than a moment’s stroll away. With the well-connected Centraal Station as Centrum’s base, it's easy to travel farther afield via one of the city’s iconic trams.
