Apart from the functionality of the building, the design is just superb - open calm space with lots of sitting areas. The location is also wonderful - in the renewed harbor area looking out into the city - just fab!

Based on the reviews, felt it was hyped up. The view is pretty hard to see with the barricade. There was a small cafe. Library was modern but was not impressed. Perhaps im just comparing to my country's own of similar design. Regretted travelling there....More

The library is very modern. There is no entrance fee. You can read books/newspapers or chill on the top floor overlooking old Amsterdam. Didn’t try the food but the drinks are amazing in the cafeteria on the top floor. On -1 are the bathrooms that...More

We visited the library due to our family walking. We asked to visit inside and the people there were friendly and kindly permitted us to join the library. I wish my kids could live and study in a place like that.

Amsterdam tourist guides and brochures never mention this wonderful place: the public library of Amsterdam. Located a few minutes from Amsterdam Centrum, this Library is a true oasis. It is a modern building, with 5 or 6 incredibly cozy, roomy, and inviting floors devoted to...More

My wife and I visited here and were very impressed by the building, the layout and everything that was available to the public. On the seventh floor they also have a most wonderful restaurant with an outside terrace which has fantastic views over the city.

It is almost undescribable - the modern arhitectural style and almost sacral yet pleasant atmosphere which anyone can sense in this rich library. I was astonished, thinking, that any city should have a book sanctuary like this.!
