We visited the place on a random saturday after the holidays, but it was really really crowded. Anyway, big book selection, live music, nice church. The only negative thing is the state of the restrooms. Needs an upgrade and better maintenance.

Definitely a impressive store interior and understandably a sight seeing highlight for the town. Sadly that really doesn’t make it a nice bookstore, or even coffee place, most of the time I walk in the place is filled with people just taking in the sights and much of the ground floor caters to that with gadgety swag and pulp to push displays. Not much m2 is actually devoted to a broad and deep selection of books which is what you expect from a large bookstore, also with the place being often crowded by the selfie herds not a nice atmosphere to browse or get assistance from staff. I’d prefer a more boring multi department bookstore over this attraction.

Amazing bookstore. I read about this place almost 10 years ago and determined I would visit. On a day trip to Maastricht from Brussels today, I finally made it, and it is worth the effort and time to see it in its glory.

Awesome bookstore, from the outside a church but the inside is clearly a bookstore.

Nice people because one asked if the fog was thirtsty and she brought some water.

The bookstore has a good selection of magazines, books about art and computer science, and much more! But tgese categories have my special interest and from my experiences, I can tell it is a good selection.
Typical (without the strict corona rules) you can drink a coffee here as well!

This bookshop is such a wonderful place to get lost in for hours. Wide choice of books in Dutch, English and some other languages. A lot of beautiful book accessories, stationery and cards. Everytime we visit Maastricht we pay this bookshop a visit. After the long exhausting browse for the books to bring home one can have some refreshment in Coffelovers café at the ground floor. There is a section of the shop dedicated to the littlest readers. Once we even had a chance to spend a full night inside the bookshop and it was unforgettable experience.

This is picture perfect place!

This old church has been transformed into a book store. And it has still its original architecturual structure.

Take a nice cup of coffee / tea with a local delicious piece of pie.

Relax and enjoy before you enter the bookstore with a large assortiment of books for young and old.

They sell English books, altough Dutch is the main branche.

The church itself was built in the 13th century.
It consists of marl stone on a foundation of millstone-grit.

In 1796 the church’s ecclesiastical function ended and was used as stables, a bike shed, an exhibition space and a party hall.

Use of toilets are free of charge.

Do not miss this book store, it will be an experience you will never have again. The cafe at the back of the store is a perfect place to pause your day and take in the wonderful tea, coffee and treats. I can’t even explain the feeling you get when you enter this ancient church which has been restored to be a fascinating book store with thousands of books, music, magazines and loads of wonderful trinkets. A must see! Side effect is, you end up in the heart of Masstricht, a world heritage site, you won’t regret this visit.

They have a lot of books in English, both modern and classics, a CD and disc section, and being inside a church was really unique.

Great place to look and buy books, but also for just having a coffee and admiring the beautiful interior of this former church. Amazing to see how a modern bookstore and old church mingle nicely! Corona rules well respected.

I honestly do not get the fuss about this place!! very crowded place in a very average church! If you are interested in the cathedrals you can go to Onze Lieve Vrouw Sterre der Zee Basiliek or Basilica of St. Servatius which are way better. The experience became worse as the management of the place implemented a silly system (using plastic baskets!) to check the number of the people inside the building whereas they could have easily used the counters like many shops and supermakets.
