The Aa is more a brook than a river. Moreover in Groningen it has changed its course and archeologists to date have not been able to determine its exact locations. Anyway in 13th Century Groningen, fishermen and traders built a chapel near the brook where...More

The Aa kerk is a rather large former church, which is currently closed to the public. The tower is an easily identifiable landmark in Groningen. There is little green space near the front of the church, which are great for a rest or eating lunch.

Aa-Kirk is an old church with some wooden pews and towering arches. It is used for events and other functions.

A nice building from the outside and also from the inside. Groningen is not the wildest place to visit but this church was worthwhile as it gave you background information of the town's history as well. Worth a visit if you are in town.

Lovely old church with frequent exhibitions such as World Press Photo and The Night of Science in Groningen. Interesting shop attached with specialises in products which have been on the market for 100 years or more.

This is an impressive building from the outside - quite sinister under grey skies, but really quite attractive the next day which was sunny. Couldn't find any information about getting in.

Great if you want local cheeses and other foods, there were also a few stalls that served takeaway food.

Wow, what a great experience! Already know the church, from concerts en exhibitions. But this very special occasion will not be fast forgotten. After an enthousiast story by a volunteer, we got helmets and climbed the very small stairs to the first level and than...More
