With a couple of hours to spare, I decided to go to see this exhibition. At 16 Euros it's seems quite expensive, but wait till you see what's inside! In a spectacular array of artifacts and interactive technology, you are transported back 2,000 years to Rome. The sheer scale of this wonderful exhibition with its enormous collection of objects and... More

The current Gladiator exhibit is very interesting although the lack of info in English was difficult. There is much to see and learn even without words however, so we thoroughly enjoyed or visit.

I went to this museum to view the special exhibit about the "Vierdaagse", the four day marches. It was so much fun because it was an interactive exhibit. Then I visited the permanent collection. I was very impressed with the Roman collection and the old paintings. There was also an abstract painting exhibit. The building is modern and very well... More

The museum is a challenge for an English reader. It was hard to get much information from the displays which are mostly in Dutch. Some of the newer displays have some English, but not many in the Roman section. The reception desk does provide an English pamphlet for some of the key museum pieces. I just wanted to learn more... Filled with an extraordinary array of artefacts from - what is claimed - to be the oldest settlement in Holland going back to Roman times. Displays are designed to appeal not only to adults, but an active programme for school children too. I was particularly taken by the little section on the history of Jews in the city with a... More

This museum has a large number of items. There are many items from the Roman Era. These were found in the local area, as Nijmegen was under Roman rule at one time. There is also a good size exhibit of modern art. There is a English Language handout, but the individual items are not labeled in English.

After touring Valkhof Park I almost skipped the museum nearby thinking to save money. But I'm glad I went in. It had a very good collection of Roman antiquities including inscriptions, bronze objects, and military equipment. It is problematic that the descriptions are only in Dutch. But I was given an English explanation of the most important pieces. The museum... More

I received an excellent and very friendly welcome. The museum is housed in a very interesting building; the building alone is actually an interesting experience in itself. I found the layout of the exhibition rooms a bit confusing, though; I wasn't always sure if I was following the recommended route or not. You need to be able to read Dutch... More

It is very nice museum. It looks very modern from outside, however, it is full of history from inside. Only thing I was missing was English text next to every Dutch text. However, we got a book with most important atractions in English through the time of our stay.

Don't get put off by the exterior of the building, which might be mistaken for a large bus station. Inside the place is light and pleasant. There are some amazing archaeological finds from Nijmegen and surroundings - lots of them Roman and even 2000 years before the Romans arrived. Almost no detail is shown in English, but doubtless the reception... More
