Beautiful botanical garden close to the old town. There are a couple museums from the University of Zurich here as well. Plenty of green space and locals here relaxing, reading, and enjoying the sun.

It’s a very small garden with no highlights to it, very disappointing with a botanical name to the garden.
Give it a miss unless you are walking by and looking for some green space.

The university decided to move the botanical garden when the growing number of skyscrapers shadowed the vegetation. Almost 50 years ago, the old garden became a recreational area and 20 years ago, it was renovated.

It is an university garden with a nice plateau where you can have a break. It is nice and quiet, also clean. Down there is a museum/interior garden and a very interesting artifact of reading the hours on the rock using the sun light.

I am a fan of botanic gardens so searched this out when in the city, based on the recommendations of other reviewers. To be honest I found it quite disappointing in comparison with other gardens. The glasshouse itself offers only a few species and no seats to enjoy this aspect of the gardens.

The botanical garden is on a shared location with the folklore museum. As soon as you step into the garden you are surrounded by peace and beauty. But don't forget to keep on moving! There is must to see in this garden. Go to the top, where you will find a glass house. Sit down and enjoy the view, the peace and quite of this location.
You will find cards with the names of plants / trees throughout this garden.
There is a special pathway to the glass house for people who are not able to climb the stairs to the top.

This botanical garden is a very beautiful and a peaceful tourist spot. The location is convenient and a walking distance from downtown. Must visit for nature lovers. I ended up sending half day just relaxing in there

Pretty area! The park next to this is a nice relaxing area to people watch or read a book. Switzerland is a gorgeous country! I enjoyed my time hiking and exploring the area. This is an absolutely gorgeous area.

The Old Botanical Gardens is situated on a hill with winding trails that go up and around. These gardens have since been replaced with the new botanical gardens which is bigger with more open and a scenic location further southeast in the city.
These older gardens have a lot of benches throughout the park, an herbal garden at the top where one can over-look the swim bad or the schanzengraben below. Try to time your visit here with viewing of the Volkerkundemuseum der Universitat Zurich which is within the same grounds.
These gardens are not that stunning but it’s a nice green area close to the heart of the city and best viewed during the summer and fall while the flowers are still blooming. Take up a spot on one of the benches and enjoy a good book or have a nice lunch.

This is the Old Botanical Garden of Zurich, not to be confused with the newer one that is located on the other side of the river. This one is right in the middle of town, an easy walk from many locations. But it is also easy to miss if you do not know it is there.
Because it is slightly above ground and separated from the streets with a big wall, it doesn't necessarily invite the visitor. Consider approaching from the northeast on Talstrasse, which will give you a much more direct access than coming in through the nearby museum. You will find yourself on a path that leads you around the gardens.
The park is so hidden from the nearby urban environment that you will quickly forget you are even in a city. Be sure to walk up a bit toward the middle of the park to see a collection of pines from all over the world.
