About
Museum Haus Konstruktiv is situated in the heart of Zurich, not far away from Paradeplatz, in one of the most impressive examples of New Objectivity and one of the most attractive buildings of industrial architecture. It is the leading museum in the Swiss cultural landscape that focuses on constructive, concrete and conceptual Art, as well as on revealing its continuing impact within contemporary art. One of the centerpieces of Museum Haus Konstruktiv's collection is Fritz Glarner's "Rockefeller Dining Room" (1963/64) revisited by Alfredo Häberli in 2016.

The museum close to the city centre is a must if you are interested in concrete, conceptual and constructive art. At my visit, the museum had two special exhibition among other one showing very fine works by Kirstine Roepstorff.

Be in the art, experience the wall painting & sculptures by becoming one with them in the space. Enjoy the quiet! Lie on the sculptured couch, sit at the dining table in Rockafeller's dining room!

The Imi Knoebel show was interesting, but tired: paintings with colour, but not of colour. Lots of size, but very little scale. The slight majority of the works were done in 2018: seemingly hastily put together. Humble little me would rate it 'average'.

However, for those who remember the memorable 1967 film "Cool Hand Luke" when Paul Newman's character, a prisoner in gaol, is sent to the hot box by the prison warden as punishment in sweltering, punishing heat, Museum Haus Konstruktiv will make you FEEL that you, in fact, are the prisoner being punished. Stuffy, hot and largely without air conditioning or temperature control in the majority of its rooms the museum in summer seems unfit for works of art, let alone humans.

The Canton and City of Zurich is wealthy. The museum's many sponsors are absolutely loaded. What would it take to make the museum experience more bearable - through air conditioning the entire museum which seems like usual practice? Or could it be that the museum administration simply doesn't find it worth it given that the number of visitors on a Saturday mid-afternoon in the summer is rather modest? During the one hour we were there, there were a maximum of 15 others passing through.

This museum was totally lost on me. There seemed to be a lot of space with very little of interest in it. That said, I liked the magnified dust particles. This has a high price tag for very little in return

Minimalism at its finest and an absolute must see if you are heading to Zurich. Loved the Marlow Moss exhibition - a real eye opener. Staff are amazingly friendly

this is not about constructivism. in December the museum had a display of basically third class artists, some neon light montage which were out of date. a great space totally wasted and at 16 francs entry fee an absolute rip-off. Do not go, particularly if you like modern and contemporary art.

In contrast to some other modern art museums I have visited which tended to leave dark and depressing impressions, the Haus Konstruktiv has a more simple, abstract, and peaceful exhibit.

I visited on a weekday afternoon, with probably only half-a-dozen other visitors in the 4-storey museum. Many times I was alone to explore both the paintings as well as installations. The bright lighting and clean industrial architecture, along with the works themselves, left a calming impression.

If you like modern art, but are looking for something a bit different, I can recommend the Haus Konstruktiv.

Museum entry is included in the ZürichCARD, otherwise see their website for fees. All exhibits had information flyers in both German and English, which was quite helpful.

the structure of the museum is nice but the exposition is difficult to follow. I really did not undestand the beauty of it.

i loved this, but I also love this type of art- it's minimalist, uncluttered, and plays around with space and shape. The exhibition "Room for Milk" was very thought provoking. Seemingly simple arrangements strongly affected how I felt in the room, and the balanced physics of how it worked were striking. Overall, I highly recommend it to people who know they like this type of thing.

Haus Konstruktiv seems to have a very interesting and pertinent collection and temporary exhibitions. I totally fell in love with Jochem Hendricks' show "Visionary Collection, Vol. 18" and also enjoyed most of the other works exhibited.

Friendly personnel, free lockers and nice documentation center at the last floor.
