I'm writing this review mainly to provide an update to previous ones (since I, too, looked at TripAdvisor when deciding whether to visit) -- the trams on display now come with helpful and interesting English text too, in addition to German. The exhibition upstairs still has German text, but some of the exhibits are quite self-explanatory, and the Google Translate camera function worked well on the rest.
As for the museum itself, I enjoyed the collection of trams with their lovely wooden interiors, as well as some of the specialised ones such as the crane tram. The display tram that you could walk underneath was cool. A five-star must-visit for anyone with an interest in trams, and still pretty cool for the casual visitor.

We have to admit that after admission, we were struck by how tiny this place is. Child's playground size.

Great place to take small children. Not cheap (12.50 francs per adult), although we didn’t need to pay for an under 6 and it is after all in Zurich. The number 11 tram stops just outside which is extremely. It opens at 1:00pm and we got there just as it opened. We were the first in and our granddaughter had a fabulous time exploring all the trams, playin withe the brio trainset and colouring in the pictures. Then others started to arrive and she had even more fun. There is one tram that the children can drive up and down the track - perfectly safe and lots of fun. The electric trainset upstairs also provided lots of entertainment.

Not worth paying CHF 12 per person for entry. Very limited variety of rolling stock visible (most of it is quite recent times and similar to each other). All written explanations only offered in German so not much use to those who are non German speaking. Souvenirs were very expensive. Only positive was that you could walk and sit inside old style carriages.

Wow, what a collection of old trams. There´s also a place for the children, where they can play and make drawings.

It is allowed to try all the Trams there, playing that you are passenger or driver of the Tram. There is also a play-tram where the kiss can drive forward and back. It was an amazing experience for our 3 year old son.

The tram museum is a clean, well-maintained, well-documented (in German) museum. There are many original Zürich trams from many eras. The signs and the like are in German. There’s activities also for kids. The price of CHF12 is not bad for the Zürich area.
If you are looking for something to do on a rainy/grey day, this is an easy to get to place to spend some time.

Small museum with trans!!! But quite entertaining for young children. They can climb on some of them, see different models and at the end play a tram driver or build some tracks and trains from Brio toys

We got into this museum on the Zurich card so we were pretty happy. If we had paid full price I might have been a little disappointed. It was aimed at fairly young Children but our tweens and teens enjoyed. Unfortunately, there are no signs in English, but it is fun to see the trams. It is loud because children can ring the tram bells and do so with vigor
