A fine collection of mostly modern and contemporary art, with some of the old masters. Focus on Swiss artists including the delightful Giovanni Segantini, the Giacomettis, and Klee. Also a significant collection of Edvard Munch works. Courtyard cafe for a snack. A nice size museum, not overwhelming like MOMA. Bonus is free admission on Wednesdays, and it was surprisingly uncrowded.

The Zurich Art Museum is good - very good! So good so that I spent about three plus hours inside and I have to admit, by the end, I was art-ed out! I took about 150 pictures of the paintings which raises questions in itself, and I tried to listen to every audio explanation possible! Why do I take pictures... More

Spend the day, there is a lot to see. The museum itself is beautiful and there are so many classic pieces inside. It got a little busy while we were there but was told it is not so busy early in the day. Easy walk from the Alt stadt and recommend that you give it the time it deserves.

The collection is very impressive. We selected the base entrance price, 10 CHF, reduced because of the City Pass, and the art collection we saw was still huge. We didn't select the free audio guide and still spent over 2 hours viewing the collection. Definitely a great addition to our visit to the city.

Not a large scale museum, but a good range of quality art from medieval to contemporary. Good Giacometti and Munch collections. Probably needs half a day to do it justice. Well worth seeing.

The museum is not very large and it is a great place to visit for art lovers or on a rainy day. It has a nice collection of old masters as well as expressionists and impressionists. It even has Money and Chagall! Also cool sculptures by Giacometti. I had an audio guide and it was useful a few times but... More

This art museum is very easy to reach from the towncentre. It does not look big from the outside, but make no mistake; it is immense. The first floor houses a collection running through the career of Swiss painter/sculptor Alberto Giacometti. The second and third floors are a maze of rooms with paintings from the late Middle Ages ("Old Masters"),... More

Thought that it was a small musuem and allocated only about an hour, but that wasn't enough. The museum had a wide collection of paintings, Monet, Van Gogh and many others. We came back in the afternoon again to enjoy the rest of the paintings that we missed in the morning. Don't miss it!

A lovely museum with an outstanding collection. Nice variety of work represented. I especially enjoyed the very large water lily paintings by Monet and the large Delaunay. The rooms were well organized and very quiet. Patrons were asked not to take pictures in the galleries. For someone who wants a taste of the museum, a quick visit will do, but... More
