A most pleasant evening watching the short one act opera, Trouble in Tahiti (Bernstein). Highly recommend a visit if you want a chilled night out. You can enjoy a stroll along the water edge (nearby) or go for a meal in the Bel Canto restaurant next door. (Just check out their prices first as it's not cheap!)

This is a must-see for opera lovers. The house is a beautiful 19th century jewel with superb acoustics. It features world-class operas and performers. Very, very elegant.

We saw La Traviata here with Renee Fleming. It was my first time to this opera house as we live in Basel. No comparison. I love the old world charm of this place and cannot wait to go back as it is situated right near the Lake in Zurich.

can't say much about it because my memories about it are a bit blurry but I remember the good feeling I had there. If you love nice stages, chose a piece you want to see and buy your tickets! :)

Went to see Tannhauser, my favorite opera, but to my surprise it was a "modern" production. Wagner means traditional production, a la Zefirelli, this one is an insult to Wagner and to opera lovers. They used fake guitars instead of harps, the singers meet Tannhauser at a golf club, Elizabeth waits her beloved at a train station, the song contest... More

Seen the Fliegende Holländer by Richard Wagner with gorgeous singers (Terfel, Salminen etc) - tickets are pricey, but if you can afford it, do not hesitate to go. The venue itself is also nice, but nothing extraordinary - do not expect a Scala or a Liceu.

The food, service and wine are so good, they even remembered me from last October, I think should be number one in Zurich, and great that they are making more space, will return soon.

This opera house is perfect. It's small enough that there are no bad seats, and the atmosphere is both exquisite and accessible.

I'm almost half a century old and had my very first visit to an opera. We went to the "Entführung aus dem Serail" from Mozart on Dec. 30th, which was the sponsored performance they do occasionally (tickets were only 1/3rd the price, but were sold out after ten minutes or so a month ago). Since it was my first opera,... More
