This 12th-century cathedral has both historical and architectural significance: Ulrich Zwingli led an important sect of the Reformation from here in the early 1500s, and the cathedral's twin towers serve as perhaps the most recognizable landmarks in modern Zürich.

It was a bitterly cold afternoon and it was nice to be inside for awhile. The church is worth a look, but the view from the tower is the real attraction and worth the fee charged to climb it. It is not a hard climb, as far as these things go, and the views are stunning. It was so cold... More

It's a great church worth visiting. It's a classical Protestant church so the layout is different. If you are a catholic or orthodox it'll look very different to you than what you are used too (altar, fresques, etc). The entrance is unusual as well (also hard to find).

Grossmünster is a great church, very interesting to visit. The entrance is free, and if you want, with few CHFs ,you can "climb" to the top of the towers to an amazing sight, a view from above of the city. But I didn't liked that it is not announced that to reach the top there are tons of stairs, very... More

The church is beautiful and the entry is free. The best thing is that you can go up to the tower and see the city from above! The bad part is that the only way to go to the tower is through the little and High stairs...no one told us that it was hard to go up and come back.

The brothers and sister of our grand-grand- grand father emigrated to Switzerland, Italy, France, Spain, all over West Europe, and of course to Switzerland. But some of our grand- grand- fathers/ -mothers went to North America (USA, Canada) amd Brasil /South America, and to Far East (Singapore, Hongkong) and Asia Pacific (Australia, New Zealand), and to South Africa. Our large... More

I highly recommend a trip to Grossmunster if you are in Zurich. The church is lovely. You can climb to the top and get a wonderful view of Zurich. The stained glass window are beautiful and there are some guides to both the church and other churches in the city that are good to get if you plan a walking... More

Before you reach the top you got 187 stairs to exercise. For kids is a bit dangerous as the stairs are very narrow on a circular stair case but definitely worth going for a good view adults:4CHF kids:2CHF.

It is a beautiful cathedral. Typically Protestant cathedral . You can see inside the stained glass by Augusto Giacometti the Swiss artist added at 1932. You can see it while you walk beside the limmat river.

Take some time in this beautiful church. Climb to the top for unbeatable views of Zurich lake, and Zurich at large. (There is a fee to climb up, it is cash only, ~7 CHF/person and absolutely worth it.) In particular, note the windows: symmetrical patterns of oddly familiar circles of incredible color...yes, those are stained glass windows made out of... More
