My husband and I walked around until we were just tired, admiring all the different things. The only downfall was the prices everywhere were so high ($20 per person was "cheap").

We were in Zurich on a business trip. We took the opportunity one night to go for a stroll with friends at the old town! What a magnificent experience! Don't miss it of you're ever in Zurich!

The old town is a mix of old and new, with the "new" dating from the 19th century (if you ignore the modern skyscrapers that are creeping in like weeds). We had a walking tour with a private guide arranged through the hotel (highly recommended)

What a lovely place to spend a afternoon strolling around the chilly streets. Chocolate shops and cake shops and little boutique shops make this a lovely adventure.

I agree. I covered a fair bit of the city (not the lake) in about 1 1/2 hours.

You have direct trains to Zürich HB (central station). And it is next to the old town so you can go for 2h walk without problems. Everybody speaks English specially in the center. Don't worry.
