As I was wandering in Zurich’s Old Town, I found this very special ‘alley’, purely by chance.

It is almost as if you have stepped back in time; this cobbled street is full of tiny shops. Dating back to the 12th century, the medieval buildings are painted in different pastel colours; each one different. It is almost as if I have stumbled onto a stage set, it is so other worldly.

On both sides of this beguiling street are shops selling a diverse selection of wares; everything from stylish hats, eco-friendly shoes, artisan jewellery, unique furniture, children’s clothes, books. There is even a doll’s Doctor who also sells teddy bears!

Further along is the Theatre Neumarkt; a busy, Art Deco cafe and bar which appears to be a popular meeting place. Also, in keeping with its’ name, upstairs is the theatre that comes alive in the evenings.

This engaging street is certainly worth visiting as it is truly unique, where else can you find so many artisans together, proudly displaying their creations?
