Absolutely wonderful and unique chateau. Do NOT miss if you are in the neighborhood... and certainly worth a detour

I have visited this chateau many times and recently was even more impressed, as they improved the experience. A great history lesson, for both children and adults. You learn about the way of life : kitchen, bed, tables, coffers, toilet (!) prison, plus a collection of arms and related artifacts. Take your time to visit. (several hours) Be prepared and... More

You need to set aside a couple of hours to completely check out the Chateau properly. I only had an hour and saw everything and got some great photos, but more time would of been much better. It has a certain "Game Of Thrones" feel about it and if you're into medieval / period history you will definitely enjoy investigating... More

A long walk on the lake shore, brought us to the gates of Château de Chillon. The castle is well preserved, the information was available and we enjoyed the place and the views. Worth visiting.

I'll start off by saying you need really good shoes for this place- there is a lot of walking and steps to climb. It was a very well maintained old fort with plenty of history. While there are plaques to read, there is also an audio guide you can rent for a bit of money. I personally found doing a... More

My wife loves to visit castles, so we have visited several in the Netherlands, the U.K. , France and Switzerland, and this one would be among our top 2. It provides a real feel of what it was a medieval castle.

I was in Montreux for a choir festival and our hotel was very close to the castle. We spend a day in there and even sang a song in one of the halls. We loved it. It's one of Switzerland's "must-see" places.

We were in a group of 100 people in an evening visit with dinner in the castle. Probably a rare occasion too be able to experience this wonderful place in the evening, with a classy dinner. It is easy to imagine how this chateau was in the early ages of this magnificent building. The view is simply meshmerizing.

Swiss towns are full of b'ful castles and there is one more like this in Montreux next to the lake. We didn't go inside the chateau as I am fan of natural beauty but looks worth it if you are a history fan

Had quite high expectations given the reviews on tripadvisor, but was underwhelmed. The chateau is on the lakefront, but its location is not impressive due to the adjacent railway line and motorway. The stricture of the building is impressive, but the interior is poor, with no furniture or fittings in their appropriate locations. The displays are rather tacky. Might be... More
