We stopped in Montreux specifically for the Christmas markets. We went of the afternoon / evening of the 23rd and the morning on the 24th December. We were very impressed the feel of the markets, the way the stall were decorated, and the variety of stalls. This market had all the things that we expected to see at a European... More

After reviewing the website this looked like a fun day out. The website says open from late November to the 24 December and also says that it was open until 2200 with the Santa sleigh at 1700, 1800 and 1900. This may be the case on all the other days, but don't waste your time coming on Christmas Eve, we... More

We travel around Europe most Decembers to visit Christmas markets and I must say that the one here in Montreux surprised me by it's quality. It sits just by beautiful Lake Geneva (known locally as Lac Leman) and very handily for us, right in front of our hotel the Suisse Majestic. There are untold food stalls, serving up everything from... More

If you want to soak in some Christmas mood, this place will do it. However, some stalls do not display in English so you have to do some guess work what they are serving. The mulled or 'hot' wine need some getting used to. They served with in red or white.

A cramped Christmas market with more commercial items than handicrafts. No doubt there is a great atmosphere and easy availability of mulled wine but I think you need to go to Zurich or Basel for more traditional (and less expensive) German-style Christmas markets.

My wife treated me to a long weekend here for my birthday and what a weekend it's been. The Markets on the shores of Lake Geneva make it probably the most picturesque of its type around. There is so many stands and stalls offering just about anything. The attention to detail is good and despite staying a couple of miles... More

What a wonderful christmas market! Set on Lake Geneva, such a beautiful surrounding. Vin Chaud and hot chocolate being served along with crepes, churros amongst other yummy things! The stalls are wonderful and some standard over priced rides which are great for the children, the big wheel is a must, but not if you're scared of heights (6chf for under... More

Just spent an afternoon there a few days ago, lots of different stalls and something for everyone. We came from Basel and we found their Christmas Market to have a more German feel and the Montreux one to have a more French feeling. We got the best of both worlds. Was happy to see a stall selling chips with poutine.... More

Lots of beautifully made cottages/stalls selling food and souvenir items... Lovely view of Lake Geneva... There's a station to hop on the boat tour around Lake Geneva. Convenient to get to with the 201 bus route... Had very yummy fondue and raclette and with churros to cap off the cheesy meals... With very beautiful Christmas landscaping this time of the... More
