This is the main shopping street in the city centre. Pleasant and it is what it is. Some very expensive shops,

Interestingly there are houses on both sides of the street, and as it's in the commercial expensive center, most are expensive shops....seriously: who decides that such places are worth reviews?

As soon as you descend the steps at Escaliers du Marche, you'll find yourself at this city centre. I'm not a shopaholic, on the contrary, quite averse to high end brands and shopping without need. So there was not much charm for me here, had to kill an hour before dinner so found myself with my family here. Shopaholics might enjoy this place, has all the big brands.

The old town atmosphere is the best part of this place. Some part you have to climb up and it was quite tiring.
However, for those who have not encountered much of old European architecture, this place sets a good example.

Rue de Bourg is a street located in the center of Lausanne, a city of Switzerland. Herr there are a lot of luxurious shops and you can buy a lot of things, if you have also a lot of money. A place to walk and see shops. Really a very important comercial arteria in the city.

One of the oldest streets in town with some fashion boutiques, restaurants, arcades, market stalls on Wednesday and Saturday mornings. The flower stall at the bottom on the right specializes in roses, and other flowers in unusual colours. Look above the shop windows for interesting details. On the right, going up: the old windows of the posh Bon Génie départment store, with attractive Belle-Epoque lettering. On the left, Ladurée for macaroons and twinkling chandeliers, and then Blondel chocolates, there since 1850 (very narrow inside). Unfortunately the beautiful and old music shop opposite, Foetisch, with its creaky wooden stairs, has closed down. The first passage on the left takes you to a good fabric shop, and at the end, a tea-room with books, home-made food and friendly owners, and a great view of the cathedral (Le Délice). Right-hand side, the Passage St-François has a beautiful trompe-l'oeil tiled floor in green, grey and black marble. A passage on the right, next to the Swarovski boutique, leads to Cardas boutique, full of exotic furniture, jewellery, fabrics, etc. behind a sculpted metal door; it has a "stepping-stone" floor of wood and gravel. Another narrow passage on the left (ruelle de Bourg) takes you into the restored Rôtillon district (for those who want to take colourful photos). Even further on the left, above the big drugstore, see the superb old façade. Many of the boutiques have vaulted stone cellars so it's worth going inside to browse, Near the top, on the right, next to the small Manuel chocolate shop, a dark corridor leads to Lausanne's oldest pizzeria, chez Mario, for authentic pizze cooked in a wood-fired oven. On this part of the street there's also what the Swiss call a "MacDo", and then Churrasco which has an excellent reputation for tender and tasty steaks. And on the right-hand side a well-known tobacco shop with a plaque on the wall telling you that Georges Simenon, author of the Maigret novels, bought his smoking supplies here.

Sure, there is Hermès and Vuitton at the top, Bon Génie at the bottom, with some upscale watches shops. But many luxury retailers have closed. It is worth a visit for Blondel, best chocolate in the region. Tiny shop with long lines outside especially before Christmas and when tourists flock to Lausanne.
