Stalls were in full swing with crowds gathering around. An impressive variety of goods and foods were there for acquiring.

It’s a grand space with lovely buildings to be seen. A beautiful fountain, Fountain of Justice, is a captivating centrepiece.

Also intriguing is the Palud Clock. Behind the Fountain, it performs animatedly regularly.

Really enjoyed my trip to Lausanne. My hotel was in Place de la Palud and the perfect location for a couple of days’ sightseeing.

This is a pleasant square with a nice fountain in one end. Worth a short break as you are heading uphill to the cathedral.

Place de la Palud is the central square in old town Lausanne. It is beneath the Lausanne Cathedral, accessed easily downstairs the historic Escaliers du March - covered medieval stairway.
On the square is city's Town Hall, a nice fountain and a maze of winding cobbled streets around with eateries, bars and shopping.
Have in mind Lausanne is pretty difficult for exploring due to its hilly landscape so you'll have lot of steep uphill streets to struggle with.

This place is lovely and there is something interesting about it. Each hour in front of the fountain the figures start moving on a building that is a pharmacy/shop. A song is played and some manly voice says some sentences. A friend explained to me that it is a story about a man who works at the cathedral and is responsible for shouting the time. I dont understand much French so I had no idea. It was interesting. So be there before the full hour to witness it.

It's okay as town squares go. We really just walked through it on the way from the metro to the Cathedral and back again. There is a very colorful fountain there, and that is sort of interesting.

This square is the heart of Old Town Lausanne with many wonderful old historic buildings, fountains, boutique shops and restaurants. We did not have time to wander down many of the streets in old town however we found everything we needed near the main square. We found a wonderful shop that sold all natural beauty products and my wife walked out with a good supply of all natural products - very pleased! The main square is located just downhill from the cathedral and near the old town city hall. After our way too brief visit to Lausanne, we definitely will be back for a more in depth discovery tour of Old Town. It has much to offer.

We walked around this place after our tour of Lausanne Cathedral and before our dinner date at Pinte Besson nearby. There are all your branded shops alongwith tiny cafes and dining places. It's a bear little place with a colourful fountain in the centre. A good walk, happy time for all.
