- Stu_L0nd0nLondon, United Kingdom79 contributionsA wonderful experienceA wonderful experience whilst my partner, who doesn't have quite the same level of passion for the Olympics, browsed around the shopping centre of Lausanne. I spent most of the morning listening to the audios, watching the videos and enjoying many of the interactive displays .... it really hyped my anticipation for the upcoming Paris Games (as well as rekindle fond memories of the Olympics in my home city). There were plenty of sporting and cultural items to view. The museum is situated in a breathtaking setting by Lake Geneva and I enjoyed wandering around the exterior of the building as much as inside. Also loved the shop!Visited June 2024Travelled soloWritten 30 June 2024
- FloFloris, Iowa26 contributionsUp to it 🙌Beautiful museum on the Olympic spirit and history. Instructive and rich rooms with many objects (flames, sports outfits, mascots, models...) Temporary exhibitions (Paris 2024!) and a beautiful shop of collector products not that expensive for Switzerland. Nice park around with animations (the high jump is set at the level of the record... Works of art on sport...) As a bonus, canon location overlooking Lake Geneva.Visited August 2024Travelled with familyWritten 25 August 2024
- Princes of travelParis, France7,528 contributionsExcellent Olympic MuseumThe Lausanne Olympic Museum is located on the Quai d'Ouchy just opposite Lake Geneva. Admission costs 20 CHF. The museum is divided into 3 zones. One dedicated to the history of games, both ancient and modern. It shows, among other things, the mascots, the various Olympic flames, a retrospective of the life of Pierre de Coubertin and a historical part on ancient Greece. An area dedicated to opening ceremonies, costumes, participants' outfits and a more fun area where you can test your reflexes, endurance, etc. The Olympic Games obliged Paris, a part was devoted to them with in particular costumes, medals, the Olympic Village, etc. A superb part devoted to the Winter Games and Summer Games, with in particular equipment, the outfits used is well highlighted. Rafael Nadal's boots can be seen among skis, luges, spikes, balls, swimsuits, etc. The museum is excellent, very well done. No need for audio guides, everything is explained very well on the panels. Outside, the garden exhibits works of art related to the Olympics. You can see a flame burning. Very nice shop on site. Paid parking all around the museum. Plan 2 hours visit.Visited August 2024Travelled as a coupleWritten 28 August 2024

I also visited the Olympic Museum during my visit to this city in Lausanne in June 2022. We came with a tour. It is a wonderful place. Since I am interested in sports, I also bought the mascots. It has a lake view and is magnificently arranged. I will visit it again this November. I am thinking of buying the French 2024 mascot. The whole world is on the stairs for the Olympics. It was very interesting to write the history of the games. The garden was also well arranged. Those who are passionate about sports are young people, I strongly recommend those who remain young to visit this museum. I cannot share the pictures because they have been deleted. However, I will soon take pictures again. Thank you...

I spent about two hours here and felt like I just skimmed the surface. Die-hard fans of the Olympics could spend a lot longer.
The museum has 3 floors and covers almost everything you can think of regarding the Olympics. I enjoyed various areas including the the history of the Olympics and some of the artifacts (e.g, Jesse Owens’ shoes). The interactive exhibits on the bottom floor were also very good.
My only criticism is that the museum doesn’t effectively address any problem areas or controversial topics. I was expecting special exhibits on the 1936 Olympics and the 1972 terrorist attacks but there weren’t any. The exhibit on Olympic stadiums doesn’t address the challenges that sponsors currently face in terms of the economics of hosting the games. Also, you would think that the Olympics were the gold standard of drug testing and enforcement if you believed their exhibit.
The place isn’t perfect but I enjoyed it and learned a lot.

A great account of a great assemblage of athletic prowess is engagingly told.
Interesting to see again with illuminating displays the origins of the modern games, with the scene set by a titan of a sculpture of a seated ancient Greek bedecked with garlands and trophies.
Baron Pierre de Coubertin being instrumental in re-establishing the modern movement features. With 1896 marking the first of the moderns, in Athens of course.
Landmark pioneering participation by women being allowed to compete is outlined. Beautiful trophies and also Olympic flames are great to see.
A long curving wall shows the many sponsors of the events. Postage stamps in tribute to the hostings are evocative. As are early TVs and cameras capturing the excitement for the world.

One of the most beautiful museums visited.
Already in the park, before entering, you can appreciate its beauty, including fountains, Olympic flame, statues and gardens with picnic area.
Inside, the visit is an immersion in the sport and its history.
The only flaw is the price: 20 francs to enter.

A must for all sports fans. Interesting insights into the history of the Olympic Games. Whether winter or summer games, many interesting aspects are recorded with hundreds of objects from the world of sport, including medals from the many games. The outdoor park in front of the actual entrance to the museum is also interesting.

When you are looking for the main entrance do not get out at the main road up the hill as it is really steep walking down and around the building. Go down to the lakeside and enter that way. We took ourselves on a tour through the museum and found it very informative.

Even if you are not a sports fanatic this place has something for everyone. The history of the Olympic games, the journey of the games and lots of memorabilia associated with the games from the 1920's to present day. There's also a nice interactive section which children and adults will love.
This activity lends itself to being a rainy day activity as it is largely inside but it was also an nice welcome break from the hot sun. Highly recommend.

Fun museum. Lots of Olympic equipment and outfits on display. The entrance is up a pretty long set of stairs from the lakeside promenade on Lake Geneva. As seniors we were pleased to find they have a reduced admission rate for us old folks.

I spent two glorious hours walking around this brilliant museum. I loved all the exhibitions and the rooftop cafe is amazing.
If you like the Olympics then this is a must-visit place. The gardens are beautiful with lots of sculptures to admire.
The added bonus is the beautiful location on the Lac Léman (Lake Geneva) waterfront where you can then stroll to the gorgeous Ouchy and then catch the ferry to Evian-Les-Bains in France. I will be back!

Upbeat and positive museum focusing on the unity that brings the Olympics and Olympians together. Exhibits include timeline and artifacts along with a focus on each location for both the Summer and Winter Olympics. Outside the Museum are wonderful statues, water features, the Flame, and picnic areas. There is also a stunning view of the Alps and Lake Geneva. Take the short walk to the Lake to complete the experience.
