I drove from the Glarus Sud end and across towards Altdorf. Stunning views on a beautiful clear day. And easy drive with not much traffic on a Tuesday 3rd week of August.
There are plenty of stopping places for rest and for photography . And the Swiss cowbell orchestra was playing!

Three guys on three motorcycles , no traffic and the Klausen pass. I couldnt be any better. So fun driving and so beautiful. The best pass in the alps so far. I really liked it. Not that safe on top, with not very much guardrails to the side.

Nice panorama and nice places where you can stop. Very few restaurant, saturday and sunday full, lots of traffics and high passage.
Lots of bikers that are not respecting the trafic rules.

This is a must drive if you can deal with the very narrow curvy mountain road with very little in terms of a barricade between you and the mountain cliff. If you ever have driven the Hana road in Maui, think of that but much higher.

It is easily reachable from Zurich in 2 hours, so if you have lengthy layover, jump in a rental and drive down, stop in Lucerne.

The drive takes you through a few small villages where they have restaurants and cafes. Once you get to the pass, there is a viewing point with washrooms and 2 restaurants / cafe. A lot of motorcyclists on the road as it was sunny warm fall day.

Many picture worthy locations along the route to the top of the pass. We traveled only to the summit and back from the Glarus Side. The road has some sharp hairpins, but is almost always 2 reasonable driving lanes and not to be feared. We did not eat at the two restaurants at the summit. The day we visited the section beyond Klausenpass summit was overlaid with a thick layer of cloud although the section we traveled was in clear sunshine. I woul highly recommend making the drive if in the area.

Drivers dream! My husband was in his element, loving the smooth tarmac & hairpins bends, while I was enjoying the stunning view!

Another awesome place to visit. We drove from Belgium and this was one of the best location. Klausen pass is definitely worth visiting specially if you love skiing and mountains and passes. Again this was the end point since the road was blocked because of the snow!! Keep checking out my reviews and pics to know more.

So unlike some of the better known passes this one was totally open and totally deserted!! The best drive of my life. Scenery epic, hairpins epic, snow covered peak epic. Do this pass is you’re in Switzerland

We drove this is a snow storm but we fortunate to have it cleared on e way down. The pass is littered with tiny alpine villages which are lit up festively at night. There are some lovely walks along the pass which are well signposted.

An incredibly scenic drive. Also great for push biking and motor biking. Be aware that some parts of the road are fairly narrow, and towards the beginning of winter the poles that prevent falling over the edge are removed.
