Zermatt is very expensive for everything including ski hire I used Julen Sports, who were central and excellent. You can see their rates online by entering Julen-Sports and Zermatt in a search engine

Over the years we find it not very exiting the skiing in Breuil -Servinia. And the lift to the Klein Matterhorn can be closed for a whole week. So If it is open. Go early. Buy a day skipass for italy. That's much cheaper... More

Loads of people trecking with sticks in the area. Also, take a beginners course in skiing might suit you.
