A charming small town worth visiting
We stayed in Chur for 3 full days last week. One of the most memorable stays. The people were exceptionally friendly though language was a bit of issue. This is a place where time seems to have stopped moving forward and I’m glad it did. The buildings and the alleys are straight from the Middle ages. But don’t be fooled by the old, laid back look. The amenities seemed quite modern. One morning I glimpsed recycle pickup from my hotel window. And I have not yet seen such a sophisticated recycle truck in the USA yet. From hotel room to train station to all the narrow lanes everything is impeccably clean. The street corners decorated with seasonal plants nicely planted in artistic pots that brought fresh summer vibes. I loved all the local shops with their own sewing machines and bolt of clothes making nice and very reasonably priced dresses right there. I could live in this fairly tale town for an other 30 days and never get over the charm. I think I will return back soon.

Sweet town with magnificient catherdal and museum
We stopped for 4 hours between St. Moritz and Zurich. A lovely town, with charming streets. Photos are tough in the afternoon as the sun can hit quite strongly. Recommend visiting the Catherdal and definitely its small museum. Entrance is to be paid but you would love the 14th-15th century collection that is so well displayed!

Perfect balance of nature and human interests
What a pleasant surprise Chur is! We only decided to stay a couple of nights here because Berina Express from Tirano, Italy stops here. We were expecting a sleepy old town of a train depot. Oh no! Chur is much more than that. It is still charming with many interesting sites, but it is a bustling modern city. We didn’t have enough time to explore what they offer. We hope to be back and spend more time here.

Old Town Chur is the historic core of the oldest city in Switzerland. Three partial days and nights to relax in its serenity, leisurely stroll the picturesque streets, gaze upon medieval architecture and enjoy the numerous squares and churches were wonderful. Except for having to leave Old Town Chur for our day trips by train to Liechtenstein and by cable car up Brambrüesch Mountain, there was no reason to venture further afield.

Magical Swiss city, where you can just take a deep breath and enjoy your peace and quiet and not feel the pressure of the world!

The old and new Switzerland are here in Chur.Chur has a new district separated by a main road with the old.Walking around in Chur is very interesting as one strolls upwards into the old narrow alleyways skirting terraces amid cafe bistro s and old inns.A cathedral overlooks the area, and small dwellings line the ways around the cathedral.Cobbled walkways slowly merge with modern footways appear as the walker crosses into the modern day streets and shops, and outdoor cafes.Modern trams weave past the rail station, and the bus station sits between the two. This is where the prices soar in the up market shops.

Glorious.
Traveled by train 1 hour 14 minutes from Zurich Hauptbahnhof to Bahnhof Chur, a delightful train trip of lakes and mountains scenery.
Restaurant Car included in consist of carriages of train, that offered , through a train steward us refreshments in our Second Class seats.
Weather on the day was of "drizzle" rain and the lowness of the clouds, sitting over the mountains and lakes - quite spectacular.
Walk from the "user friendly" Hauptbahnhof Chur - to the Old Town extremely pleasant - along the Bahnofstrasse.
Walking the lanes and alley ways in the Old Town of Chur beautiful.
Architecture is as marketed and published - being through its age and variations of design and periods delightful and interesting.
We lunched at a large CoOp Supermarket complex in there restaurant.
We don't need to watch the swiss franc - but the food, its quality and setting, service and value - EXCELLENT.
Joyous day, and our return train trip without any delays and "seat service" by a train steward from the restaurant car - enquiring if drinks coffee or "other" required.
We were in Second Class - not First Class for such a short train trip - very much appreciated this service quality AGAIN by Swiss Rail.
