This is an amazing hike starting and ending in Murren with fantastic views of the surrounding mountains. Take the short funicular ride from Murren to Allmendhubel. You'll hike from there through various meadows and forested areas, including some opportunities to stop and purchase lunch along...More

The North Face Trail is a awesome and relatively easy hiking trail. We took the Allmendhubel Bahn from Murren to start our hike along the North Face Trail. We hiked from Allmendhubel - Murren and later on also decided to hike from Gimmelwald-Stechelberg - Lauterbrunnen....More

Definitely leave at least half a day for this hike, if not an entire day. Take your time and enjoy the intense beauty around you. The trails are well marked, but I would suggest looking up which hike you are doing online first so that...More

My husband and I followed the mountain bike trail from Murren to catch the Northface Trail as it was raining (hard) and we wanted to stay on a hard or gravel surface to avoid mud and slippery terrain. Despite the weather, this was still an...More

I hiked the North Face trail on a cloudy day. Even though I couldn't see the mountains across the valley (Whose supposed presence was constantly mentioned by the plaques on the trail frequently...), I still enjoyed it because of the rich flower beds. There were...More

This trail has everything...great views of the Eiger, Monch, Jungfrau, and Breithorn mountains, classic pastoral Swiss scenery, alpine flowers, and one on one access to grazing Swiss cows! A classic and very memorable Swiss Alpine hike!

Take the very steep Allmendhubel funicular from Murren -- and reach high Alpine meadows in a matter of minutes. From the station/restaurant at the top, take the main trail to the left and follow well-marked signs to the North Face Trail. In the summer months,...More

My husband, an avid hiker for over 50 years, rates this #1. We never witnessed anything more beautiful. And in the middle of summer, we only saw a handful of people. It was surreal.

This hike can be done from Murren-Allmendhubel or vice versa. We did it from Allmendhubel and recommend this since more the views closer to Murren along the pine trees is more underwhelming and not as well marked. On a good day the views will take...More
