Journeyed from Brig through to Chur on the Glacier Express on a beautiful, clear September day - so the views were impressive. Yes, its not cheap and the food and souvenirs are expensive, but if you don't buy any then no problem. My disappointment was the lack of any windows that would open making decent photography impossible. If you can... More

The train was OK but it was very expensive for food or drink. They were selling tourist train mementos at inflated prices. Well I have done it, but not again.

Criticising a Swiss scenic train is sacrilege, so I expect hate mail, and death threats! Almost like criticising motherhood! But, before someone reaches for the machine-gun, please hear me out, and please read the WHOLE review, not just the title! Why is it terrible? 1. Value for money. We had a first class Eurail Pass, and yet, we had to... More

No doubt it is an "iconic" ride, but it actually does not offer ,fun more view than a normal train ride in some places. It is more comfortable perhaps but the time restrictions and the need to (probably) plan your schedules around this ride makes it less worthwhile. The food are decent, if the sets are not to your liking,... More

As part of a round Switzerland tour, I took the possibly less scenic part from Chur to Brig, and found the scenery interesting, if not quite as spectacular as expected. It was still worth doing the once, but it became obvious that it is possible to do the same trip by standard train, stopping probably where you wish, to explore... More

The very slow express takes the same route as the normal much cheaper train but gives you a commentary on the landscape and all the things to buy on the train which they keep telling you about. The pre ordered meal was 5€ worth of food for a outrageous price. The scenery was stunned but the berlina express is way... More

First, the scenery is amazing and well worth the trip. We took the full day trip from St. Moritz to Zermatt and were not disappointed. If all you want is to see the alps and not learn anything, then you can see them from any train and save some money. However, the Glacier Express train adds in pre-recorded audio about... More

We took this train ride from Brig to Chur as part of a week's escorted holiday. The scenery was undoubtedly outstanding, but the train itself was disappointing. For a start, in a tourist trap train, all the seats should face the direction of travel. On a warm sunny day, the carriage became uncomfortably hot and if there was air conditioning,... More

Not worth the time or money. Definitely avoid paying for the three course lunch in advance. Food was disgusting and we ended up barely eating it. We travelled from Zermatt to St. Moritz which took the full day. Some great views but most of the route can be seen on the normal train lines if you take the standard train... More

Glacier Express is a full day train journey from St. Moritz to Zermatt. The first day we did Bernina from Chur to Tirano followed by excellent Italian lunch in Tirano. Then came back from Tirano to St. Moritz with overnight stay in St. Moritz. The next day we took Glacier Express from St. Moritz to Zermatt. Make sure to book... More
