After years of looking at this mountain and wanting to go to the summit, it was a disappointment. One of the funicular staff was very rude, ushering us in like cattle, and the space is very cramped for a half hour journey. We had to stand, as did a little kid. And when you pay CHF28, that's a drag. The... More

Very nice view from the top. Beautiful surroundings. To get up there by 'train' be there before 9:30 am or after 2:30 pm otherwise expect very long waitingqueue. If you plan to walk down from the top to the middle station, do the opposite. Because the path is rather steep and difficult to walk on.

Getting up is half the fun. The Funicular is an interesting ride. But be prepared for the top. If you are afraid of heights - don't go! And be prepared. When we got up the weather changed from 25 degrees to below 10 degrees and rail within minutes. And once you're up the ride back relies on the train return... More

What a fantastic place. The funicular ride up gets so steep its amazing. The view from the top is simply spectacular. This is a must do if the sky is clear.

We decided to eat at the restaurant at the top. The service was totally inefficient, we waited one hour to be served and the rösti dish we ordered was terrible: soft and fat... certainly from a pre-cooked package... accompanied by boiled vegetables... with no seasonings... very blend.

I have now trekked the bottom half and top half of this mountain and cannot say enough about the experiences. Given the choice, I recommend trekking the top half versus the bottom if you are going to do just one. I did the top half with a buddy of mine on a beautiful fall day in October. The bottom half... The ride up to the Niesen is amazing, and the view from up there is amazing. As it is usual for the Alps, it might get foggy very quickly, which, might affect the view. This is part of nature. Just make sure to take something warm with, as it does get chilly up there. You can get off halfway and... More

The Swiss owners of the house we were staying in recommended going up this mountain. Its takes half an hour to ascend on a very steep railway . You change carriages half way up.A lot of locals get off at this point and walk or run to the top . The carriages can get very crowded but try to get... More

We went up the Niesen with the cablecar and were fascinated of the great view you had up there. You can see all the well known peaks in the Berner Oberland. The restaurant is also very good wie had a Niesenplatter and some Alpenmacaroni. It was a perfect trip. There is also a playground for kits, which is also very... More

The sun was bright, the snow was deep making this a perfect day to go to the top of the Niesen. Great value and because it's a little of the beaten track it's not too busy. The views are stunning.
