Interesting historic building

Access via steep steps, but also more gradual zig-zag path. Superb views from the top. Very good strategic defence position. Well preserved building

The Munot Fort is a symbol of Schaffausen and offers a wonderful view of the city and the Rhein. The best way to know this attraction is to reach it by foot from Unterstadt street in the pedestrian zone, using a stair path through wineyards. To return use the Hirschweg path near the roses garden, with a section which looks... More

This place is a well maintained fort of sorts over viewing the city of schaffhausen. Very close from the city centre this place has steep steps to climb but one can also take a bus to reach up top.

There are a view places you can visit in Schaffhausen and the Munot is one of them. The Annual fencing tournament of the best fencer is held there. Apart from that and it's history it gives a great few over Schaffhausen.

The pride and joy of Schaffhausen is this lovely tower. It allows you to appreciate the views of the town in 360 degrees. Do not miss the vineyards off the Munot and if you happen to be in town in New years eve, enjoy the fantastic fireworks reflecting on the Rhine.

beautiful medieval castle with deer in the waterless moat, lots of corridors to explore, on the top are canons facing the city, you can use your imagination here - its a super historical building and well worth a visit, been here a few times and will return again and again

We drove up to the Munot fortress and parked close by (if you have had enough of steep climbs and have a car). It is an unusual circular castle like structure that looks across Schaffhausen. The views from the top were pretty spectacular. It was pretty bare inside but the architecture was so interesting it made the visit worthwhile.

The Munot is a medieval circular fortress which design originates from Albrecht Dürer. From there you have a wonderful view over the city of Schaffhausen and at the river Rhein underneath. During the sommer time one can enjoy every Saturday dancing in the circular court.
