the museum starts from within a gift shop. it is free to visit with swiss pass. it is just near by the lion monument. history of lucerne museum and glacier garden. can have a short look at all of them in 2 hours.
The museum is about the local culture and local attractions. It is beautifully depicted with tiny wooden, metallic models.
A visit for an hour won't be a waste if you are in the city for a couple of days.
