Mount Rigi is a beautiful, unforgettable experience! You can take a steamboat from Luzern to Rigi, take a cog railway up, walk an hour down to an aerial cable car back to the steamboat!!

Take your pick at the various ways to get up and down the mountain. There are tour packages as well, but we booked the trip from the boat dock. First leg was by boat. Second leg up to the top was via the cog wheel train. At the top we ate lunch and took photos then hiked down to the... More

I went there sometimes. I like the mountain, but the most important thing is its way to go up. You can reach the top from Luzern either by Boat trip, or by Train, then you take the mountain train up the mountain. Especially on Winter months, the plenty of snow, so white to see! There, it serves variety of food... More

The Rigi offers a truly great view of the mountains and lands of Switzerland. You can take a boat trip on the lake from Lucerne (also wonderful) and then a cable-car & train to the top, or hike up there. Once on the top you get an really amazing 360 degree view of everything. Worth the trip!

Tourists have been visiting the top of Mt. Rigi since the 1870's when the first railway to the top opened. Today you are rewarded with the same panoramic views of Lake Luzern and the surrounding mountains and valleys. You can take cog railways to the top from Arth-Goldau on the east or from Viznau on the west. You can also... More

Beautiful place to visit just a short boat ride from Lucerne! We took the cable car halfway up the mountain and walked the trail - seemed to be very few Americans there and we were later told this was a favorite vacation spot for the Swiss (the cogwheel train on the other hand seemed full of foreign tourists).

View of Lucerne from the mountain is beautiful but yet another countless mountain in the region. Choose any one of it to avoid mounter-overdose.

Mt. Rigi may not be high enough to be spectacular but the views from there are more than spectacular. The ride by train there is short and is free with travel pass. The restaurant up there has a limited yet a tasty menu.

The round trip via boat, cogwheel rail and cable car gets you up to where you can get great views, and also gives you a variety of options as to how much you want to do on foot. It's expensive, though--best to use it with the benefit of a Swiss rail pass.
