PROS
* Prominent pier/jetty on north shore of Lac Leman- located in the center of Geneva
* Large public swimming place and also for sun bathing
* Also offers food

CONS
* Regulated 2CHF admission
* Not much else to do there

"I VISITED THIS PLACE"
... because i saw it when approaching on the lake on one of the Mouettes Genevoises and I wanted to see it close-up. I felt that it was not a good expenditure of time

WAS IT WORTH THE COST?
It is only 2CHF but I didn't think that it was worth it for me to go

WOULD "I VISIT THIS PLACE" AGAIN?
No

ADVICE
Go only if you intend to go swimming

A quirky restaurant, extremely popular with the locals, on a long jetty on lake Geneva.

Hearty portions of comfort food and well priced oysters to boot.

There are outdoor seats for dining in good weather and an indoor area with a blazing log fire for dining in bad weather.

I tried and thoroughly enjoyed both options.

Definitely worth a visit.

View is impressive, truly original in entire city. Nothing like it. Plenty places to lie down, one can choose either west or east side. Sun is throughout. Basic but excellent restaurant, many home made dishes. Prices are very affordable.

I know we all know what clothing optional means but nobody want to be the odd man out so to speak. You don't want to be the only one in a swim suit or the only one naked. It all depends on which tribe you fit into. So what's a Yank in Geneva to do?

Gents,
For the men it is usually easy. Most men just go native. There are a few who don't, and they stick out like sore thumbs. There's the English, who tend to wear board shorts even though the sign outside says they aren't allowed. There is also "towel boy". This guy wears his towel around his waist and doesn't lay it out so his feet are on it. This is a big no no and towel boy is always yelled at by the sauna meister and towel boy will pick up his feet and try to put them on his towel but sticks them back on the wood when the sauna meister leaves. Do not be this guy! I guarantee after the first 5 minutes you'll forget you've gone native and will be laughing at the few guys who are afraid to do so. Enjoy!

Ladies,
The ladies have it a little harder. There are many different tribes in this sauna, and it will be difficult to determine which one fits. Of course if you're here with a work group your options are limited as the men you work with are gossipy little boys.
Teeny Boppers: These are young women in the 16–26-year age group. They usually wear the tiniest bikinis in bright colors that scream "LOOK AT ME!" This is not your tribe (I know you're thinking "if I had my college figure this would be easy, but alas youth is wasted on the young)
The English: These women have swimsuits constructed with structural support designed for major construction projects in mind. You would think this is closest to our American mindset but there is definitely a puritan vibe that is shocking.
The French: These women are usually topless but have small black bottoms on.
The rest all go native. So what is a Yankee girl to do? My recommendation is to bring your suit but leave it in your changing closet for the first try in the sauna. After you've jumped in the lake naked after your first sauna you'll need to go back in to warm up and then if you hate it can try again with your swimsuit. My bet is that you'll leave the suit in the bag. Enjoy!

Sauna info: When you enter the sauna area, the one to the left is not as hot as the one on the right. The aufgas is on the hour and half hour and you'll want to make sure you are there for those. When the weather is nice, you can sit outside and sunbathe with a beer or wine from the restaurant which has a window on the sauna side as well as the restaurant side. It is cheaper beer than most of Geneva. Plan about 2-3 hours. On the full moon, they stay open late.

Place where to go during sunny days; the atmosphere is one of the best in town, recommended for people of all ages especially families with kids.
Very nice place to have an aperitif.

We visited today having read great reviews. We loved the idea behind this beach and restaurant which is to support and invest in the local community and people. We had the plate of the day. As vegetarians we appreciated that all of the daily specials have a vegetarian option as well. The food was hearty, reasonably priced and tasty. The beach is lifeguarded as well.

What I detested was that so many people were smoking and vaping even in the no smoking section. It was absolutely disgusting and completely ruined the whole experience for me. I found it shocking that a place like this with such fantastic ethical principles allows smoking and vaping almost everywhere. This is a venue that attracts families and many today had babies and young children. What kind of message and environment is it when at least half the people there are smoking and vaping everywhere (including in the non-smoking area) and around young children.

Sadly, I won't be returning solely because of the smoking and vaping.

This is where the locals go to spend some free time. They can swim, sit under the sun, have a snack, eat fondue. Good vibes.

We walked along the top which was quite blustery but we could see people sitting and sunbathing on the decking below. Some people were swimming even though the water was freezing. We climbed down to the deck and immediately understood why people were in bikinis and trunks, sheltered from the wind with the sun directly in front, it was baking even in 12C February temperatures.
We sat for a while taking in the sun and watching the wildlife swim past then had to move as it was hot and a little uncomfortable lazing against the rocks.
A very strange but enjoyable experience.

The only way to spend a hot afternoon in Geneva. Only 2 CHF per adult, cheapest entertainment for miles. Lots to do with climbing walls, diving platforms and floating docks to jump from. Totally chilled out vibe. So close to downtown so great location as well. If I lived here I would spend every afternoon at this beach.

2CHF per adult, 1CHF per child. The climbing wall in the lake kept my teenage kids happy for hours. Changing rooms and food are available. Lovely chilled out vibe.
