- Jeff KPittsburgh, Pennsylvania2,352 contributionsExcellent TourMy wife and I took the English language tour which is offered on Saturdays @ 2:30. The tour had 18 people and lasted 90 minutes. The woman who led the tour did a great job. She couldn’t cover everything (it would take days) but did a good job of pointing out significant pieces and explaining the history of both watchmaking and the Patek Phillipe. Her English was very good and the tour was great. The Museum itself is amazing. It’s hard to believe the magnitude and the quality of the watches and clocks, some of which are 500 years old. I have no idea what the collection is worth but would guess it’s in the hundreds of millions. If you can’t make the tour they have audioguides that can be used on a self-tour. Note that you can only sign up for the tours in person, an hour or so before the tour. Highly recommended.Visited October 2023Travelled as a coupleWritten 7 October 2023
- GgnicetryLondon, United Kingdom13 contributionsIt's great even if you aren't particularly a watch person :)It's a really great museum and there is so much variety in the watches that you'll love to see them even if you aren't really a watch person. For Geneva it's very reasonably priced. There is a lovely quiet, high end atmosphere and the staff are smartly dressed. I particularly enjoyed how the watches from different eras were on different floors. The little cinema room video was entertaining (I usually don't bother to watch those at museums). If I was to critique I would say it's a shame there wasn't any kind of gift shop and there wasn't any particular watch that was highlighted as being the wow piece, I was half expecting a separate room with the most valuable one at the end. But overall it's great and I really enjoyed my time here.Visited October 2023Travelled as a coupleWritten 16 October 2023
- permia65,400 contributionsMarking endless timeTime’s mystery has been an enduring fascination of humankind for millennia. Albert Einstein cogitated on it and created his astonishing Relativity Theories incorporating space-time in the first 15 years of the 20th century. Poets have written volumes on the subject, some bemoaning that clocks and watches, like mills with grain, have reduced time to smaller and smaller and more burdensome pieces. Measuring time is what Patek Philippe have been doing excellently for nearly 2 centuries. As a prestigious creator of luxury timepieces it is apt that this eponymous showcases and recounts their story in vivid and exquisite detail. An audiovisual on their provenance and history is illuminating and well worth tuning into. But the highlight attractions are dazzling and splendid jewel bedecked timepieces crafted down the decades.Visited October 2023Travelled as a coupleWritten 8 January 2024
- annwoodwardPerth, Australia282 contributionsWell Worth a LookThis was a fabulous museum covering 3 floors. While we enjoyed the watch displays the photos and history of watch making in Geneva were also very good. Beautiful displays besides watches all in a very pleasant building.Visited January 2024Travelled with familyWritten 31 January 2024
- like_london151 contributionsExquisite museumIf you are a watch lover, then this is the place for you. The museum exhibits all of the Patak Phillipe watches ever made. It gives you an appreciation for watches and the intricate attention to details given to every single watch. We didn't opt for the audio guide as we were short on time but a good half day visit, especially for a rainy day.Visited April 2024Travelled as a coupleWritten 27 April 2024
- Tony WOrlando, Florida19 contributionsWatches that are priceless! This is perfect for watch lovers and folks that are curious about the art of watch making. The museum provides either guided tours or you can obtain a headset and a tablet to follow along. All the interesting watches are on the second and third floor. Definitely worth the twenty Swiss Francs for enter.Visited May 2024Travelled with familyWritten 4 June 2024
- alohatripperHonolulu, Hawaii1,747 contributionsI thought I would not like it, but I was wrongHaving never been to a watch museum, I did not know what to expect. At the end of the self-tour, I expected to see a sales shop selling their watches. But I was wrong -- very little commercialism or overt marketing. The museum is fascinating and makes you think about how much time, intelligence, and tenacity goes into this industry made famous in Switzerland. Also, I was surprised at the other artistic pieces other than watches and clocks that PP created and produced in its history.Visited May 2024Travelled with friendsWritten 13 June 2024
- blinkerthinkerUnited Kingdom243 contributionsAny watch enthusiasts will enjoy but might be a little long for a general interestDepending on how thorough you are, a visit to the museum can take up to two and a half hours. The museum covers not only Patek Philippe but also the broader history of watchmaking. The collection is vast and impressive, sure to captivate any watch enthusiast. Spread over three floors, the museum provides lockers in the basement and a water fountain for a refreshing drink. Photography is allowed with mobile phones, but no flash or large cameras are permitted. Overall, it's a wonderful museum with audio guides available in English, French, German, and Spanish.Visited July 2024Travelled as a coupleWritten 4 August 2024

It was a 10 CHF entrance fee to go in and you will start the visit from the 3rd floor down. An iPad audio guide will be provided but it is seriously a very, very slow guide. If you actually listen to it all the way, it could probably take you at least 3 hours to finish the visit. Worth time spent if you are really a HUGE PP fan and avid watch lover. What i got from this is that Patek and Phillippe are two different gentlemen who are partners in the creation of this loved luxury brand. Apart from this, I did enjoy looking at very old antique watches and the development of the designs throughout the years.

This museum seems really neat, but the cases are not always chronological so it's super hard to find what the audioguide is talking about. Plus, those really were difficult to use (and I have a freaking PhD). I had to keep going out of the whole thing and restarting. Honestly, if you can't get a live tour (which are hopefully better), it's not worth the money or the time. Especially as there is no information with the exhibits so you have to have a guide. And, those are limited so some people literally couldn't have them.

This is famous for watch collections. Opening hour is shorter than other museums, but I recommend every traveler should visit. This museum consists of medieval watch, the owner's collection. Especially, medieval ones are beautifully decorated.
This museum are four stories, but the building equips lifts for wheelchair visitors and coin lockers. If you don't have any coins, you can lend an alternative coin at the reception. This museum's hospitality is very good, I'm sure everyone can enjoy.

Probably the best collection of timepieces that you will ever see.
From the 1500s until today a beautifully displayed collection of unique pieces that are a marvel to behold..
Everything is well laid out, the cabinets really put the pieces into the forefront.
It's a must do, inexpensive and defnately worth the price..

The four story museum gives you an idea and how the watch has evolved over time, from pocket watches to wristwatches. They also share the intricacies on how they manufacture their own time pieces and how this has evolved over time.
If you are a watch enthusiast this is a must see.

This museum was fantastic and I am not particularly interested in watches. There are thousands of watches from various manufacturers in this museum, which illustrate how watches have developed over time, both functionally and aesthetically. There are also some examples of older watch making equipment and you can see someone restoring watches in a workshop. It's fascinating to understand how much politics and religion have impacted watch production over the years. We thought 2 hours here would be plenty but we felt rushed.

I thought it was a "small" museum but in reality the visit lasts quite a long time. There are several floors.
The audio guide is great, each time there is a short or long version of the description, and hundreds of references to listen to. There are some very beautiful pieces on display, it's definitely worth the detour.
Entrance is 10Fr. We must leave the belongings in the lockers for the visit.

This museum is not to be missed if you are a watch, clock or fine art fan, the 3 floors of extensive watchmaking history is amazing. There are literally hundreds and hundreds of pieces to examine, all in excellent displayed condition and detailed descriptions of the background and history. We really enjoyed this museum and have a new found respect for this industry dating back hundreds of years. Bravo Patek Phillip for creating the museum to display your quality watches for all these years and building a setting to display and educate us all on the history of your art.

Despite the queue times and insufficient audio headsets, the experience was good. The museum need to invest in more headsets as there were clearly an insufficient number (had to wait for 40 mins for headsets to become available). Urgent investment needed!

No need to book in advance unless you are wanting a private tour. Just allow yourself enough time to enjoy the museum. I'd say 2-3 hrs as there is so much to see. (Check the open times, it's 14:00 - 18:00hrs Tues - Fri and 10:00 - 18:00hrs on Sat).

If I just show up for the English tour on Sat is that ok? No reservation? Is it still 10 chf to enter museum and have tour? Thanks
Written 19 February 2019
Yes you can just turn up, but not sure about booking the tour whether it’s worth it? We just had the audio tour which was very dry and tedious and only on one floor. I eaves dropped the tour and didn’t think I was missing anything. I love mechanical watches and this is watch heaven but even I felt ‘over watched’ by the end of it. There are so many watches and clocks that you get ‘swamped’ by them all! But worth the visit as there are some truly magnificent pierces that are about 400 years old that are exquisite. I hope this helps? Enjoy!!
