I always start my meal with their Signature Mushroom Soup, coming from heaven directly. Last time I had lamb chops, one of the best you could find in Riyadh.

They do a great job bringing some non-mainstream stuff to Geneva with all their truly great spaces. Some people on Trip Advisor report a bouncer beating up a defenseless guy. I cannot say anything about it. Others say it is sketchy: regarding this, all I can say it is that these people have never ever been to a really sketchy place. I have always been and felt safe, and very comfortable here.

L'Usine can be as good or bad as you make it. Do your research first, see who is playing because chances are that they'll actually be playing music you like at some point, and you should probably try and go for that as you probably will have to pay entrance (maybe ten francs, depending on what's happening). Doors usually open from 11pm to past 5am. The only thing about usine is that it is in a seriously shady area with really creepy people hanging around, so if you're a girl (or a guy, but for different reasons) definitely go with a group of people, and try and get as many drinks in before you go as it gets really crowded and you'll have to wait a while. All the drug dealers in geneva are on the prowl here, and you need to keep your wits about you. There is sometimes a very long and confusing queue as well as there are different entrances to the different parts of usine, so make sure you're standing in the right line! Once you're in, you're fine :)

My favorite place to go out ! It one of the last places in Geneva where you can get in and have a good time whatever you're wearing and without having to spend an awful lot of money. This is where you can listen to all the good music that doesn't fit in the posh clubs you find all around Geneva.. And if you don't feel like dancing they also have a bar (which has got a restaurant), a theater and a cinema (all of them alternative)

Very interesting place where you can discover great music groups or DJ. This used to be the top alternative place of Geneva, temple of the musique where awsome groups played few years before being revealed. A must go if you are open and want to be surprised (or not) for little money.

This used to be an absolute "In" place in the 80's, big large bar with benches, bit dirty, but everybody was accepted as he was without judgement. Today bar reduced to a little tiny place, still a bit dirty but less atmosphere

Located in a quiet, dimly lit street close to the lake, l'Usine is the hangout spot for Geneva's misfits. As we approached the club, we were offered "something for the night" from a dodgy man loitering the streets. This pretty much set the tone for the entire venue. The top floor was packed full of people smoking weed (there's no smoking ban in Switzerland...), and all the punters in the club/gig level were all off their faces on something other than drink (although at 7CHF a pint, you can't really blame them). Bouncers/security staff were probably the least helpful people I've ever met in my life. Good venue for gigs, just remember to watch your drink at all times!

If you're not into clubbing and would rather catch your music acts live, then l'Usine is the place to be. A converted gold treatment factory, "donated" by Geneva to the cultural association "Etat d'Urgences" (State of Emergencies) in order to establish an alternative culture incubator during the 90's, l'Usine includes a concert hall with it's own bar, an upstairs bar which often has local artists works on display (and where the food is surprisingly good), a movie theater showing non-commercial movies, various lofts dedicated to artistic creation, and a record shop where you'll find all the latest recordings on alternative labels.
Depending on the line-ups, you are as likely to bump into a decked out punk with a foot high iroquois as you are to encounter the head of the investment arm of a private bank out for a night on the town.
To sum it all up, if you're in the mood for skirting the line between trashy and trendy, l'Usine is the place to do it!
