When you admire the famous 140 m high Geneva lake water fountain you may not realize that you are watching a full ton of water flying in air at any moment, dancing in varying currents of wind and sparkling in ever changing light from the...More

I love the Jet d'Eau because, similar to waterfalls or waves crashing on the beach, one can spend time watching how water figting against air resistance splits in millions of droplets. This is a nice paradigm of what happens in life when conflicting forces produce...More

The Jet d'Eau is the landmark of Geneva. Located on the public Lake Side walk with nice gardens it is quite impressive to see up close. You can see it miles away and sometimes even from the airplane depending on which direction you are landing.

A beautiful plume rising directly from the lake. All powered by gravity. Only in Switzerland. But beware: don't try a restaurant overlooking the lake. Not unless you have the wallet the size of a Swiss mountain. Best to enjoy the view over a drink and...More

A must see tick in the box, though we didn't run through it. Nice rainbow droplet diffraction too which varied with where you viewed it.

Scenic place, with the mountains and the lake in the background. Ideal for vacation pictures, but not a place with a special history. For sure other bigger/higher fountains have or will pop up around to the world. The first time I was in Geneva in...More

Yes, only closed in high wind to avoid spray drift. 💨💦
