Sometimes it is on

Sometimes it is on and sometimes it is off. Must be very disappointing to go to Geneva and it not be on. Normally off because of the wind. But when it is on it is beautiful.

This is not just a show piece but a great feat of engineering... Jet d'Eau is one of the tallest fountains in the world. Originally, in 1886 they built the fountain to control and release the excess pressure of a hydraulic plant at La Coulouvrenière. Shortly it became remarkable symbol of the city and so it was amplified and relocated... More

I saw this during the day and it didn't appeal to me as much as people had hyped it up to be. Once it got dark and lit up is when I was fascinated by it. It is an incredible fountain and looking at it from a distance you can't truly tell how big it is, it's worth going up... More

I just had a walk around this "jet" about an hour ago, including surrounding area. I've been visiting this city for 27 years and it's still a great sight if the weather is cooperating.

It is a huge jet (fountain) within the Geneva lake. It does not remain active all time. It can be seen in the evening.

It is an amazing jet. The speed is astonishing and amazing. It is quite tall and visible from far away distance. But the path to go near the jet is really crap. It has insects, mosquitoes and bunch of flies. It is really disgusting.

Spectacular but not switched on every day. A ferry passes close by for a better view. The must see icon of Geneva.

I know that the jet in lake Geneva is one of the attractions in the city but I didn't find it to be a big deal. The boardwalks and bridges around the lake offer a nice walking area and some cafe's to hang out. It's really enjoyable with it without the jet.

I had no idea that they switch the jet off and on - we searched for ages for it before seeing it on our way back from a walk - now on! We felt quite silly - but good to know that it's not on all the time! But beautiful to see!

Just a simple water fountain jet out in Lac Léman...the backdrop of the Alps is far more impressive. Take a photo and find more attractions in Geneva. At leadt it's free in this über expensive city.
