The Gurten park is accessible by a cog train from Bern. We took a street car to the closest stop and walked a few blocks to the cog station. All very easy. The ride up itself is a bit of an experience if you have never been in a cog system. It is a special track made for steep climbs... More

Spotted this as a good place to go with kids when researching things to do on our Bern weekend away. SO glad when went. Easy transport on a Sunday morning via the number 9 tram. A sort walk around the corner (follow everyone else!) to the funicular and straight up the mountain. It's a truly lovely place. Loved the contemporary... More

This is the Bern house-mountain. Well, really just a hill but what a hill. There is everything for kids - great playgrounds, a little train, things to climb on, slides to slide on and chicken nuggets, too! Lovely view of Bern from here and quick food to a very nice restaurant for the grown ups. Bern is not a city... More

You can either walk up or catch the Gurtenbahn, which is on the 9 tram route. The train is free if you have a travel pass. You have fantastic views of the city and the Bernese Oberland if the weather is clear. There are a number of long and short circular walks, a play area for children and barbeque/picnic areas.... Easy to get to by team and cable car only takes about 10 mins to get to the top. It's peaceful and quiet, not much to do but the view is lovely. Nice place to have a bite to eat and a drink

The cable train takes you up and IF you are kid it is a nice place to spend some time playing or walking. As a tourist attraction, it only took us 1 hour to go up, walk a bit, and take a couple of photos. I see it more like a green area for a city. There is a buffet... More

Good restaurant, good wines. I have been here several times with customers, colleges and friends and each time we had a very nice evening and a good view over the city!
