After a positive review, I sadly need to adjust it because of major problems during the 2018 summer: - trains are regularly late from and to this station - I'm having connection problems at least once per day - trains are too often overcrowded -...More

We enjoyed the Basel Main station where the trams come thru and they also set up open air markets. A great place to go to.

This is a big station but there are plenty of boards providing departure information and it is easy to find your way around. Though I never did find the toilets! Lots of coffee shops and places to buy snacks.

We arrived at the station around 11 a.m. and tried to get some information about the next connecting train. The lady, working at information desk, seemed to be there for days without break. Needless to say what information we can get out of her, except...More

I visited Basel on a weekend trip from Zurich. I arrived at Basel SBB main station by train. It‘s a crowded station. I bought a snack in the Migros shop - which is also open on sundays.

We took the train from Zurich. Very different station experience. Basel was tight and crowded with a constant stream of people heading in and out a single entrance towards the local trams. There were a few fast food shops but it lacked the casual cafe...More

Pease allow at least 30-45 minutes to buy your ticket to Interlaken. The platforms that SNCF uses are not in the same building as Swiss SBB. It is very likely that you have to ask around to get to SBB side. I hope this helps.

If you can carry the luggage or pull it, then you can take tram number 11 (yellow tram in the direction away from the train stations). A lot easier would be a taxi, however, you might not all fit into one taxi, maybe you... More
