    Worth a visit
A different style with a large high alter .Quite simple and very beautiful carvings . The main door is very elaborate .The stained glass windows seem modern to me . The tiled roof is wonderful .The minster is situated on a high point overlooking the river with great views .Some locals were there to relax along with a few tourists .Worth the steep hike up from the old town .

    Fantastical Creatures at this Cathedral
This cathedral was really fascinating. I learned so much about the building from our travel leader. There are animal sculptures on the facade of the church, and they all looked a little strange. We found out that these animals were sculpted from a description only. When the crusaders returned from where ever they were, they described these fantastical beasts that did not exist in Europe. (See photos attached) I found it really fascinating.

Basel Münster on a hot June day
What a wonderful experience visiting this beautiful cathedral. I love how baby Jesus varies from culture to culture in the window glass artwork. The catacombs (down under) of the church were open to visitors and it was quite amazing to be down with 1000 year old foundations….and very cool on a hot summer day. Signboards had just enough in English to keep one interested.

Worth seeing but beware of driving in Basel.
We took a day trip to Basel as we were flying out the following day from the local airport. The city looked interesting on the internet but we were driving and getting to a car park was a nightmare (trams, bikes and narrow streets, lots of building work and the car park we put in the sat nab was closed). We nearly gave up but a kind local stopped us going down an awkward street and pointed us to a multi story car park so decided to stay and at least go and look at the Rhine and the Minster as it looked so imposing on the skyline. It has a lovely square in front of it and a small park and viewpoint behind. The Minster is interesting but we found the cloister building to the right side of the main cathedral facade (which we went into by accident to be even better.

    Wonderful gothic architecture
Basel Minster is a free to enter church located at the heart of the city. It's also the location of the Basel Autumn festival and Christmas markets. It's a stunning Gothic cathedral, stands as an architectural marvel. You can buy tickets to go up the cathedral's tower to experience panoramic views of Basel and the Rhine River. Its timeless beauty and cultural significance make it a jewel in Switzerland's heritage and a true testament to Gothic architecture's grandeur.

    Impressive!
Very impressive Munster with equally impressive twin towers! Don’t miss climbing the challenging stairs to the walk at the base of the towers! It costs a few CHF but is well worth it! Not for the faint of heart! Also don’t miss the about 10 minute presentation in the crypt about the history of the building. Very well done!

Climb the towers for great Rhine Views.
A beautiful, peaceful building, lovely to be in and just sit and be. We also climbed the tower which is a great adventure, as the ticket seller told us. Great to manoeuvre the very narrow spiral stairs and emerge at the viewing platform. Then go up further, up both towers and the view and journey is great fun. Not for the faint hearted or those with low tolerance for very tight places, not well lit. But hey! The Swiss built it. Of course it is fine!

Really beautiful! I didn't go in as it was too early but the outside of the building and the square is beautiful. Definitely worth a visit.

Beautiful Minster with cloister area. Didn't go up the bell tower which supposedly gives good views over Basel. Some beautiful stain glass windows

Located on the banks of the Rhine river this gothic cathedral is worthy of a visit. To get some extra history of the building, take the stairs down to the lower crypt.

Wonderful visit to the Basel Minster. We walked through it with a private English speaking tour guide. This was truly key to learn a lot about the history of the building, the destruction from the earth quake and the rebuilding of the church. We also learned about the fun fact that the chairs are almost all different and we were shown the grave of Erasmus of Rotterdam. Definitely worth a visit when you are in Basel.

A great place to drop by if you are in Basel. I wouldn't say Basel is a must see tourist destination, but if you are there, this is one of the places you'd want to visit since it's a large cathedral, well preserved and sits on the hill so you can look at the river and enjoy the view.
