Incredible experience that covers the history of paper and bookmaking throughout the world. The staff there offer demonstrations of type casting and you can make your own paper!

The museum looks quite small on the outside but you can actually spend hours inside. 3 floors of so much knowledge and antiques! Here, it wasn't only shown how paper is made but you could also learn about printing and its history over the years,...More

I wanted to leave a review because when I was looking there was a negative review that commented the museum did not have any interactive activities for children. We went with our three small children (all under 8 years) and they had a wonderful time....More

Interesting and informative and inspiring. You can make your own paper, learn about paper making, writing, printing, book binding etc. Without paper and words, we do not have own thoughts recorded and the world civilised like today. Even the world goes digital, paper means so...More

Thought I’d check out the paper museum in Basel. Glad I went. I saw a huge waterwheel outside, slowly turning from the water released from a source upstream. This is still occasionally used to propel equipment inside. Was very educational. We were greeted by a...More

We had a great time at this museum, learning about paper-making, printing, embossing, bookbinding, etc. Fun for adults as well as children. Make sure to spend time making your own paper etc.

What a truly amazing experience it is. From when you arrive and press your own paper, to being walked through the first presses and printing methods. There are so many interactive engagements for kids of all ages. Really great

Really amazing museum (and I typically hate museums). Don't get too bogged down on the 1st and 2nd floor, there are more floors!

At the momnet the entrance is 15 SFR. The "Basler Papiermühle" has an excellent home page with the fees, opening hours etc.
