From the outside look down into the well and marvel at the ingenuity of these ancient people. Then walk around the corner into the museum and pay for entry so you can walk down the original marble steps (be careful, they are often wet and...More

Breathtaking. Impressive construction of a well, done a long time ago without modern tools and materials. Tour is a must in Perugia.

It's an Etruscan well. We tend to learn all about the Romans but it was a pleasant and interesting change to learn about the etruscans who also knew a thing or two about building. This particular attraction will not take up much of your time...More

This was amazing. To see the well at street level gives some insight into the Etruscan people's history. But the journey underground to near the water level, and to look up to the daylight is a great experience.

This ancient well is close to the heart of the old city and a site worth visiting. It encapsulates the essence of the region's Etruscan history.

Luckily we got to see the well without a large group of people, which is much better because it's very small and everything is wet so you have to be careful not to slip. I actually felt quite claustrophobic which isn't normal for me... It's...More

Contemporary with the city walls,IV-III century BC.!- this Etruscan Well furnished water for Perugia, and ,most important, could do so even in case of blockade when enemies laid siege. The upper section is lined with squared-off blocks of travertine and the opening is supported by two "capriate"...More

I myself as an engineering student and architecture lover found this well amazing. It's real depth is still unknown to this day, but the whole engineering behind it is simply mesmerizing. My friends who were with me didn't really like as much, after all, it's...More
