The outer cladding is quite fine, but unfinished. If you have seen other cathedrals like Sienna, Pisa or Firenze, you do not need to spend the entrance fee. This building is by far inferior to the ones mentioned. Fits into the town ensemble, but no more.

Obviously I can't say that it was the most gorgeous cathedral that I have seen in my life but this one is sure worth visiting.

You can't make a trip to Perugia without stopping at the main cathedral (known as il Duomo). It's a commanding structure that dates back hundreds of years. During that time it's taken on many transformations to become what it is today. The interior of the church is decorated in a sumptuous gothic style, which is in great contrast to its... More

Another amazing place, full of history, in this beautiful old city. Whether sitting on the stops or wandering around, make sure it's on the 'must see' list.

The Duomo is a must see if you are in Perugia. The fabulous architecture is worthy of a visit. The quality of the craftsmanship is old world. Structures of this type took hundreds of years to build but last over 900 years and more. Nothing like this in the USA. Stunningly beautiful.

The Cathedral must be seen as an integral part of Piazza IV Novembre along with the Cardinal's Palace and the beautiful Museum of Anthropology of Perugia. The Church is immense and very austere. The steps leading up to the entrances seem to be a meeting place for both tourists as well as locals. There is also a GREAT Gelateria right... More

This cathedral, which is dedicated to Saint Lorenzo, was built between 1345 & 1490 on the site of a former but smaller church. The cathedral is not that impressive to look at. In fact, as you will see the side facing the central square, is unfinished with only a small area having been completed with the white & pink marble.... More

No photographs allowed, but every other tourist was flashing away, oblivious to the respect that this church deserves, and to the annoyance they cause to others. You can spend hours here just looking at the walls and their paintings within chapels, at the lovely stained-glass windows, the fantastic three-dimensional altar sculptures, and the amazingly-painted very high ceilings. Afterwards, don't miss... More

You can't miss this church as you're walking in the city center. Please take a few minutes to view the various paintings.

A Must to visit this Place! As very Special of this cathedral is the fully painted ceiling. Not often seen in Italy. It also shows the history of over 500 years of that building. A big Match to your Town visit of Perugia.
