Just off the car park this church is almost as old as St. Francis himself. Though it needs some restoration its worth a visit and a respite from the summer sun. Great photo op with Francis statue outside (esp. for the kids).

Park at the bottom of the town on the free gravel Car park and then walk up through the town exploring the lovely narrow streets. You must go up the Funivia just for the experience and to enjoy an ice cream and the view at the top. we managed to take our 4yr old with us in one cage! 17euros... More

In a town with nothing but steps, this building is a pleasant walk from the parking lot. The Gothic building is rather spare, but evocative. Some of the interior decoration has suffered over the ages. All of this means it is not one of the great churches in Europe--but it is worth dropping in and absorbing the ambiance.

A trip to Gubbio is a trip back into time. We walked through the town, from the base of the village where there are remains of an early auditorium, through the church, and then up to the gardens built by a local "bigwig" long ago for his homesick wife who missed her childhood flowers. We had coffee and dessert in... More

Though not a highlight, this church is absolutely worth a visit. Outside you'll find a statue of St. Francis and the tamed wolf. Inside the church there are some damaged frescoes. The exterior of the church, with its beautiful white stones, is really worth a closer look.

A medieval Roman Catholic church built in gothic style. It was built in 1256 and decoration completed in 1291. The bell tower was constructed in the 14th century. It has a central nave and two lateral ones and octagonal pillars support the vault. You can still see some of the frescoes.

One of the best and biggest churces in Gubbio. Both the exterior and interior (with its art masterpiecses) and worth seeing.

We drove from Perugua - an easy 1 hour drive. Plenty of winding roads in the country. Pleasantly surprised on arrival. Another town with much history, churches and a archeological works of a Roman theatre. San Francesco was the first Cathedral we came across. All the churches here have a story to tell. Like Assisi, Gubbio is related to the... More

This church is full of interesting chapels and paintings. It is large and makes you feel like you are in a different world.

Very pretty town, plus it has two elevators to take you to the top of the city. If you have time, it's a lovely place to stop. However, of the hill towns that we visited, Gubbio was not one of my favorites. The church was lovely, so if you do go to Gubbio, be sure to there.
