I go to Santa Maria degli Angeli every year. Generally I go to Assisi even during the day. This year, unlike previous years, I have seen a rigorous presence of milje but discrete. The thing, however, did not cause the slightest annoyance or perception of...More

We passed by quite a few times on the highway, on our way to Perugia. But early this year we had some time to spare one evening and decided to stop and visit. Despite of the armed soldiers standing guard (!). After we entered it...More

You must come and visit. Seeing st Francis hut was a truly spiritual and special moment. That is really all there is though and then you get a bit stuck in there!

We found the church itself was a bit busy - baroque, in the heart is the decorated cabin which does the peace & tranquility bit; also the cloisters & garden and great. The toilets are miles away outside.Disabled access poor.

I loved the art work and the church is light and bright in comparison to Saint Francis' basilica. It is a very big church that stands within its own piazza. I really enjoyed our visit and would recommend a visit to this beautiful church.

Security checks bags and backpacks. The church is beautiful. Quiet and respect is expected. You'll need to take a bus if you're in Assisi but it's easy.

This church was a beautiful ending to the story of St. Francis. We had learned about St Francis' life and the Franciscan way of life in Rome. Then we traveled to Assisi and took the Bosco di San Francesco walk through the woods which allowed...More

Porziuncola is located inside this amazing church. Unfortunately everything closes for 2 hours during the day and we had to leave after being there for only about 30 mins due to timing. Check their daily schedule if you are not staying nearby.

You can visit this church before arriving up to Assisi where you will find the Porzincula inside a symbolic place for Saint Francis lovers. The church is modern baroque style and very beautiful

Typical renaissance architecture complete with sculptures and paintings. Built over the original church which is still inside and can be visited as well. Dominates the landscape with its magnificent dome.
