The walk at night around the Basilica was soothing and tranquil. Sadly it was closed at night but the park and piazza around is worth the stroll.

The Basilica is very impressive, both inside and out. Besides the many beautifully decorated side chapels, the Basilica is build around a chapel that looks like a tiny church inside the huge bacilica. Also, don’t miss the thornless rose garden and its interesting story.

First visit drawn in by the beauty of the area. Didn’t go in as not suitably covered arms etc. Nice quiet area, beautiful building. Nothing in English so had to look up details on google.

I visited this church, having got out of the wrong side of the train. It is worth a visit, having some good pictures, but not a patch on St Framcis on the other side of the tracks

It was my dream to visit this church to see one of the little churches that Saint Francis repaired. I loved to be there and pray where the first Franciscans adored the Lord. Saint Francis loved animals and taught us humans to be respectful and...More

The churches in the old town of Assissi on the hill are famous, but this church in the valley is stunning! We also went to Mass there which was a lovely experience.

Given the fact that it's even walkable from the town of Assisi, I guess walking down from the train station should absolutely be doable, as it's like a 1/3rd of the distance and it's flat. If you want to walk from st. Maria... More
