I was staying in near by-towns like Florence (Via dei Neri) and Lucca as part of my first extended visit to central Italy and Tuscany many years ago long before the range of calendar dates suitable for indicating the time of my visit were made available for completing this review. I had just competed two university degrees with three college... More

Lovey museum with some great frescoes. Be warned that there are a lot of stairs but well worth the effort. Tour was unfortunately closed when we were there.

Apart from its collections of objects and arts the rooms also radiate with atmosphere from a bygone age. The paintings of good and bad government ought to be an inspiration and/or warning to the politicians of today.

As an art historian I have a specialist interest, but I warmly recommend a visit for the superb frescoes by Simone Martini and Ambrogio Lorenzetti - an intriguing and absorbing mixture of religious and secular. In February my group of students were the only people there.

Such a friendly and relaxed museum, plenty of places to sit and really take in the paintings and architecture. Some really beautiful works that I am very pleased to have seen. Also a current exhibition of award winning photographs, was stunning. I feel truly inspired after my day at the museum and tower.

We both really enjoyed this museum, especially my history-buff husband. We rented the notepad which was a guide. The notepad was very helpful and we were able to do a self guided tour which gave us a fairly comprehensive explanation of the museum and the history of Siena. However, we both felt the notepad information could be improved because sometimes... More

For the physically able, be sure to clime the bell tower (lots of steps). In the museum be sure to see the paintings of good and bad government
