The magnificent complex of the Cathedral of Siena, its Duomo, houses a series of some of the most important monuments of the European artistic panorama. With its more than one million visitors every year, the Cathedral without a doubt represents the fulcrum of the entire complex, while other significant elements include the Crypt, the Baptistery and the Museo dell'Opera, all part of the impressive mass formed by the "Duomo Vecchio" (Old Cathedral), and the "Duomo Nuovo" (New Cathedral). Visitors will travel along a memorable itinerary to the discovery of self and the truth of faith through culture and art, the result of more than a millennium of Western history.

Stunning to look at from the outside and also worth seeing at night as the lighting is amazing. Check opening times as it was closed when we went in the morning.

The only word for this is "Breathtaking". From the minute you walk in, your camera will be snapping away and you run into people from staring at the walls and ceiling. What a great way to begin you Italian Vacation!

A "must visit" in Siena, which is a "must visit" in Italy. Take an hour or so to explore the architecture and artwork and to learn the history.

Do not miss this sensational place. It is staggeringly beautiful. Very low charge... maybe because it was Sunday. Take care to include the beautifully restored Piccolomini Library off the main knave ... rivals the Sistine Chapel and much less crowded. The floor ceramics are a...More

You can get "churched out" in Italy since every town has a Duomo to visit, but be sure to see this one. The exterior is a sight to behold, the marble flooring on the inside in humbling. The entrance lines get long in the afternoon,...More

There is so much to see in this wonderful attraction that you can spend hours just walking around and taking it all in. Having a guide is important to a better understanding of what you are seeing.

We went ahead and got the Opa Si Plus tickets as I'd read about the Heaven's Gate tour and wanted to see some of the church not open to the public. It wasn't really a 'tour', we were escorted to different parts, but the person...More

What an amazing cathedral! The floor mosaics portray various passages of scripture and are beautiful. The manuscripts and frescoes are lovely. This was my second visit and definitely worthwhile.

*September 2017. And there's a café next to the ticket office in case you rushed over before having your morning coffee and pastry.

I seem to recall that you can buy all passes at the ticket office. Having less than an hour to spend, I bought the cheapest ticket (3 euros) to see the cathedral's interior, including the Piccolomini Library. Various other... More

I wouldn't risk it. Stick to something below the knee and make sure you have a wrap or cardigan to cover your shoulders
