More
The magnificent complex of the Cathedral of Siena, its Duomo, houses a series of some of the most important monuments of the European artistic panorama. With its more than one million visitors every year, the Cathedral without a doubt represents the fulcrum of the entire complex, while other significant elements include the Crypt, the Baptistery and the Museo dell'Opera, all part of the impressive mass formed by the "Duomo Vecchio" (Old Cathedral), and the "Duomo Nuovo" (New Cathedral). Visitors will travel along a memorable itinerary to the discovery of self and the truth of faith through culture and art, the result of more than a millennium of Western history.

The cathedral is a Byzantine treasure, whose columns and walls are beautiful enough. The true treasure is at your feet - the inlaid stone pictures of saints and bible stories. We were fortunate to be there when the floor was completely uncovered, giving us the...More

While on vacation in Tuscany, we made a point to see this church. There are many cathedrals in Italy, but, this one is tough to beat! I suggest opting for the guided tour up to and into the dome, you won't be dissapointed.

In this church, the floors literally are a work of art. There are different displays to watch out for. Most are covered and opened a few times a year. Also in this church, several works of Michaelangelo can be seen. Definitely a must see in...More

This cathedral is not only incredibly beautiful, but also full of history and art. Take the audio headset tour - a must to get an even more in depth appreciation of the art and time period. Also, take the roof top access tour. You can...More

The tour to the roof was amazing and offered a different view of the inside of the Cathedral as well as the city.

This place just blew me away. Magnificient doesn't even describe this cathedral. So ornate, such craftmenship....I don't think this could possibly be built today.

Visited this Cathedral on a day trip from Florence. The facade and the interior were both incredibly gorgeous. If you are going to Siena, this is a must see site, even for the non-religious.

Not only the exterior but mainly the interior of the church is outstanding. The bibliotheca and the baptistery are also worth visiting. In November there was no queue so don't be anxious about getting tickets upfront.

This is a glorious building - a magnificent frontage but inside, what treasures. It is a mass of beautiful statuary, requisite paintings and frescoes and the atmosphere is remarkable. It is worth every penny of the entrance fee. Expect to give it at least an...More

Stunning to look at from the outside and also worth seeing at night as the lighting is amazing. Check opening times as it was closed when we went in the morning.

*September 2017. And there's a café next to the ticket office in case you rushed over before having your morning coffee and pastry.

I seem to recall that you can buy all passes at the ticket office. Having less than an hour to spend, I bought the cheapest ticket (3 euros) to see the cathedral's interior, including the Piccolomini Library. Various other... More

I wouldn't risk it. Stick to something below the knee and make sure you have a wrap or cardigan to cover your shoulders
