I was there as part of Brecon Cathedral Choir as we were giving a concert. Lovely church and grounds. We'll worth a visit. It has cloisters etc and is run by the Augustinian Order. They have an English Mass on Sundays. The rest of the town is full of interest. Try the world class icecream in piazza Cisterna!

Unfortunately we could only visit this church quickly, but it is an absolutely beautiful building, with wonderful frescoes and some lovely gardens you can access.

Situated on the edge of one of the town squares, it's stairs offer a shaded haven for tourists wanting to sit, relax and take in the sheer experience of the town. It's a fairly moderate sized church and absolutely beautiful inside. I would recommend a visit!

Chiesa di Sant'Agostino is a bit off the tourist track, even for small San Gimignano, but it's lovely and has incredible 13th and 14th c. frescoes inside-- worth it!

This is a church located just within the city walls of San Gimignano. It lies within a quiet square on the outskirts of the city. It is situated outside the hustle and bustle of the heart of this heavily visited city. It is free entry into the church, which you will not find at the Duomo in the city's center.... More

Away from the center of town, the Church of Saint Augustine was a mandatory stop for pilgrims in the Middle Ages. It is beautifully decorated and sits on its own, uncrowded piazza.

We walked around the area during our tour and popped into the church. I went through to the gardens by the side door and it was the most peaceful place I've been too and ever visited. My wife said exactly the same. It's an amazingly peaceful and relaxing area to just witness. Hard to describe but highly recommended as a... More

Located at the far end of town away from the crowds we found this church to be peaceful. We enjoyed the fresco behind the altar.

We got there quite early one morning, after a lovely walk around the city walls (another highlight) and were the only people in there, for the duration of our visit. Many of the frescoes in the main body of the church are very interesting, but it is Gozzoli's fresco cycle of the life of St Augustine in the apsidal chapel... More

This Romanesque/Gothic style church and monastery was completed around 1300 and is located on the north side of San Gimignano, Italy. The simple brick façade has an ornamented rose window and three tall windows on the long side where the entrance is. The interior has a single nave with a wooden ceiling and two side chapels. The apse in the... More
