A simple but beautiful church. The cloisters to the side are lovely. The frescoes inside the church are well worth seeing

We went by car from Siena to San Gimignano. Like Florence and Siena we went for the impressions that the Renaissance had on the towns around Tuscany. Beside having a great church, as other towns have, it is the sheer impact of the tourist invasion...More

The Romanesque Church of Sant'Agostino with its simple brick façade is not impressive when viewed from the exterior but the interior houses some beautiful Benozzi Gozzoli frescoes as well as a lovely high altarpiece depicting the Coronation of the Virgin.

Chiesa di Sant'Agostino is a bit off the tourist track, even for small San Gimignano, but it's lovely and has incredible 13th and 14th c. frescoes inside-- worth it!
