It was a nice respite from the hot crowded streets, but the price seemed a little steep for the self guided tour. The exhibits are very thorough, and creepy. It was the first thing we told people about when we got home.

This is really two Museums, located in two different buildings and very close to each other(MUSEO PENA DI MORTE and MUSEO DELLA TORTURA).One ticket will cover both museums. From the Depth point of view they consider almost every way of torture in history. From the...More

What a stupid museum. In San Gimignano you're going to find a lot of interesting thing, but not this museum. All the machines are rebuilt, there's nothing original and you're going to find the same museum in Siena and Volterra too!! It's suitable for children.

Is not ideal to visit with the kids, but the museum is very interesting and gives a broad vision of the Middle Ages, customs and traditions of the time

This is an excellent museum with a fascinating collection of ancient torture tools, excellently displayed with well-written information detailing the use of each apparatus. Very interesting historical information for every member of the family.

The museum of torture has some very chilling tales of torture. I took my 8-year-old son and my 18-year-old niece. My son loves creepy stuff and enjoyed this small museum but I think he did find a few of the descriptions a little scary. (Tried...More

There are branches of the Museum of Torture in many of these little Tuscan towns. We went to the one in Montepulciano and cracked up when we saw another in San Gimignano. Skip it. And San Gimignano itself is way too heavily touristed anyway--see a...More

As lovers of all kinds of history we, couldn't go to San Grimignano and not visit the torture museum. There are over 100 instruments of execution and torture. Some people may fine it quite desturbing but in a way that is part of the attraction....More
